Should we show any interest at trade week? Medders seems to be on the outer at Collingwood and is the sorta forward we could do with at Carlton. His best is AA and his worst isn't to flash. Discuss.

There is a reason he is on the outer at Collingwood. He has virtually no defensive side to his game & he has too many games where he is totally shut down by the opposition.

It's a no from me.

A big no from me as well. His form has well and truly fallen away at Collingwood over the past 18 months, and I suspect we have probably settled on our forward line structure, with Waite, Henderson, Garlett, Betts and a couple of others making up our forwardline.

cant we wait until october, to discuss trades. i'm sure the club we'll look at the list and see what there thinking will be

That's not the reason at all. The reason is that he's horribly out of form. When he was actually in the side most of the time in the first half of the year he was in the top 5 or so for tackles inside 50 in the AFL. It's that he isn't kicking goals and getting the ball. We can't afford to have Medhurst and Davis playing a similar role just creating pressure when none of them are getting the ball or kicking goals. Davis is better at that side of the game (#1 in the AFL at tackles inside 50) so he's going to be first choice for now. The new gameplan which is pretty different from last year also doesn't help him, we practically voluntarily flood our forward line so he can't really play the long leading marking option where he was in AA form playing.

Garlett and Betts are crumming forwards
Yarran will hopefully turn into a star midfielder
Medhurst plays tall and is a marking forward who as we all know is capable of kicking 40-50 goals in a season if firing.
same goes for Robbo - tearing them up in the Goulburn Valley League we hear!

The 64 ain't for playing games my friend....

Medhurst is out of contract at the end of the season.

If a team actually wanted him they could easily force Collingwood's hand.

Collingwood have a few key players (and younger players) coming out of contract;

- Simon Prestigiacomo
- Tyson Goldsack
- Travis Cloke
- Paul Medhurst
- Jarryd Blair (promising rookie list player)

That's from their contracts list. It hasn't been updated since July... However, it's not conclusive and there may be others who they don't know about.
