ok EBIAC i love you and youre the best. is that better?

zomg i express my personal opinion and EBIAC jumps down my throat, and then i get roasted for being defensive?? We are all carlton supporters and are all allowed to express an opinion about the club, and as it may be, its coaching staff. EBIAC your opinion does not stand out alone as the bible, as you may think it does. Share your opinion on others`, but dont ridicule their posts. That is all from me
now thats just being a smartarsse

So you think that this post ^^^^

Deserved this response ^^^^^^

I'm trying to figure out where he jumps down your throat. You were roasted for an over the top reaction and an offesive reply to his post. If he had of bagged you or personally attacked you then there would be no issue, but your reply was way over the top and just not on. THO there was really no need for it.

Go Blues :thumbsu:
THIS.

There is no need for personal attacks . EBIAC displayed no animosity, he simply pointed out that he thought you missed the OPs point whilst you where disgraceful with your attack on him. There is no need to be so insulting and you have already lost any respect you might have had on big footy.:thumbsd:

You can all have your opinions, but alot ur opinions are just wrong. For those of you who overeact, you need to think and post, beacuse just because you are angry at a loss or the coach or whatever, doesnt mean changes need to be made or players need to be dropped. Whats the point of posting that crap. No-one from Carlton would read it, so theres no point posting something unless ur offering an opinion that is not bagging the shit through the club.

Ratts deserves this season to prove that he is the coach that can take us to no 17. If we don't make the 8 this year then its pretty simple that he must go. I am a huge Roos fan and would be estatic if he ended up coaching the Blues.
Anyone else think that if Roos had our list he wouldn't make us play that stop/start crap that was successful with the Sydney list.

I am all for keeping Ratten on for another couple of years, BUT IF the Board decided to make a change at the end of season 2011 (when his contract expires) this is the man who should become the new coach of Carlton

Port-Adelaide-Coach-Mark-Williams-on-the-Power-s-Pre-Season-102040.jpg

Choco's got the tenacity, the arrogance, the tactical nous, and not afraid to ruffle a few feathers in the media, plus he's always said he wants to coach a big Melbourne based club ...

Mark Williams would be perfect for Carlton, even if he did play a few season's for Collingwood, I'd choose him as the replacement if such a thing were to happen, because most of the current assistants now are either too young/recently retired from the game, or just haven't got the right credentials ...

Oh my goodness. I feel like throwing up. Choco is a tool of the highest order. He will never coach a premiership side again. Most port supporters don't even like him.

No to Paul Roos also. I would hate for Carlton to play like the swans. They are such a boring team to watch, mostly because of their style of play that Paul Roos has implemented.

Why don't we just support the coach that we have!! Ratten has taken us from a wooden spoon side to finals in only two years. Sure Ratten is still learning but I am sure that he has what it takes to learn and be sucessfull.

It should be a really exciting year this year to be a blues supporter. Being realistic we should be up there around the 8 again. But at the same time this year will be a chance to experiment with our forward line. Try a few things.

Our window will be opening very soon. Maybe as early as next year. exciting times ahead for the Blues!!

Who gives a crap what he said about that bitter old fart Alan Scott ??? He was right all along (won Port a flag) plus he is highly regarded with match day tactics, and works really well with young players.

He would be a great fit at Carlton.

I am sure that I read somewhere in the newpapers that some guy called Pagan would be a great fit at Carlton... and for a while, I believed the hype...

History now shows different...

Whilst Ratten has done enough so far, the next 2 years will be much harder.
We were always going to improve in 08-09.
Our players are maturing and Judd came in.

But his big test will come this year and next.
Give him time, he is still young for a coach.
Mark Thompson wasnt a great coach early on either.

Given our youth and massive number of high draft picks anything less than last year is a disgrace.

So you admit we are a young and inexperienced side, yet you expect (nay... demand) results?

22 Kids on the park beat 22 experienced proven performers hey?

Question: Did Geelong and St Kilda (and Brisbane before them) get results due to youth... or experience? Ill give you Hawthorn (who got lucky and overreached) but it was largely thier experienced players that got them across the line in the GF.

If Ratten misses the 8 piss him off as it will be a disgrace.

Its posts like this that ruin this board.

Dont let expectations from last year cloud your thinking on where we are as a team and in our current stage of development.

Consider we lost Stevens and Fevola at the end of last year. Thats 419 games and 781 goals combined lost between those two players.

Add a new, inexperienced and disrupted forward line and a tough draw over the first 7 rounds, we will be borderline for the 8 this year. IMO we should make it

Im not entirely certain what you want Ratten to do (or how Ratten can be blamed) regarding:

a) A tough early draw,
b) Our lack of forwards,
c) Our lack of experience.

I really feel sorry for the Mods. I can forsee a tough year ahead.

Is it fair enough to assume that if Carlton fail to make the finals in both 2010 and 2011 then Ratten's position would at the very least be under heavy review by the club ???

We should give him this year as a 'grace' for losing Fev/Stevens etc, and try to restructure the fowardline, he certainly doesn't deserve to be sacked if we miss the 8 this year, however I think in 2011, that is when the real pressure will be mounted (if not by the fans, by the press IMHO)

And by no means should the club give Ratten an contract extention before the end of the 2011 season* we went down that path before with Pagan after he won the Nab cup, and what a disaster that was ...

*If we make the finals this year though, he probably should given an extension for I think he would have exceeded most expectations ...

Apparently Sticks has told several influential supporters he thinks we'll struggle to make the 8 this year following Fev's departure.
And I concur, I'm not writing off the boys for 2010, but I think it's dicey for us to make the 8, especially since Judd's out for the first 3 rounds, and the constant doubts on Marc Murphy's fitness ...
We've still got a list mostly made out of kids, so techincally I don't think the club has finished 'rebuilding/reloading' the list to make a serious flag tilt.

And another thing on Ratten's favour is that he's changing the culture of the club and coming down hard on players who are disruptive elements (IE Fevola and Cam Cloke discarded last year, and the penalities upon Betts, Walker, Houlihan etc)

But I stand by my belief that if the Club WANTED to get rid of Ratten by the end of 2011(that would be the earliest possible time IMHO) I think Choco is exactly the right coach Carlton needs, and unlike Pagan, he is still very professional and fired up to coach, I think Pagan took the carlton job as an retirement fund, whereas Mark Williams still has plenty to offer and prove at AFL level (he's been undermined at Port by massive budget cut-backs, and the fact their hack of a CEO keeps trying to knife him in the back)

Finishing 8th wont mean anything if he hasnt improved.
Ratts will have to show the club he has as solid game plan in place, improvement in the younger players and a ruthlessness towards team discipline.
If he doesnt improve and we finish 8th, we're going nowhere.
But he's still inexperienced, and with experience usually comes improvement.

All the best to him :thumbsu:

Great Post c_p couldn't agree more.

Not sure about Choco. Dont think I'd like him coaching us. If we were going to change coach's Mathews would be my pick.

Heres an idea. Why don't we just get behind ratts and the boys for the upcoming season and then make judgments at seasons end.

I think ratts has shown enough in his first 2 full seasons to warrant nothing but our support.

I look at ratts like one of our #1 draft picks. He'll take a little time to get up to speed but I have faith that he has the goods and will start delivering something special sooner rather than later.

Thompson was on the verge of getting the sack not that long ago and now look at geelong.

Losing fev was big but maybe it will allow ratts to have a bit more tactical flexibilty. Something that more than 2 other clubs have already mentioned. ie. They don't know what the hell we're gonna do.

Plus he's as competitive as they come and I'm sure those small beady eyes are set on some payback (bombers, lions, aints etc)

Cmon guys (and gals) our clkub has been to hell and back, now we're getting closer and closer to the light all we need to do is back our club, coaches and players.

At least wait till we actually lose some real games before we start speculating on our coach.
