Peake a Saint!

Good point, but I look at the 22 (21, no Ball) that played in the GF, add Lovett and perhaps Magiure and don't see where Peake is going to fit in. .

I don't know if you heard Lyon interviewed in the wekk after the GF.

Zac almost did not play as he had stomach bug.

If id not play Lyon stated tht GEARY would have come in. Reason being that Lyon was concerned that our backline was too tall.

So that concern would still be there. Therefore Goose unlike to get a game when others are fit, but someone smaller may move into the backline.

Raph could not handle Varcoe's pace.

So do not be surprised if Peake is used across HB.
In addition Gram to the midfield has worked well for the midfield, but it created a pace void in our backline.

Gram made his name with lon bouncing runs from HB. Peake may well do the same next year.

I hope Peake can become that player because even if he isn't the greatest kick, he couldn't be worse than Raph and at least he wouldn't be found out for pace.

One of the great aspects of Gram off the HB is his kicking penetration. I've always preferred him in HB role and that allows Goddard who is a better allround footballer to play upfield. If Peake's delivery is suspect then there's no point having him play a Gram role. Maybe he could replace Raph but I'm not convinced. (I've always been a Raph supporter...what he gives us outweighs his disadvantages)

I don't have him playing a Gram role, I have him playing Raph's role (whatever that is) better than Raph. I haven't seen much of Peake but Raph's disposal is woeful so I'm sure it couldn't be worse than his.

Another option is to put Gram back into the backline but I like him along with Goddard too much in the midfield to move either of them back.

If it ain't bust don't fix it. I'm not convinced that Peake is a better option than Raph. We had the best backline in the league in 09 and if Peake has attitude problems then I just don't want him.
Let's see how the pre-season unfolds. No-one would have predicted that McQualter and Dawson would be in our best 22 this time last year so let's just wait and see who proves himself on the track.

I agree. I rate Peak, he's inconsistent & unpredictable, but man when he's on..... Lets just see how hard he works over the pre-season. He will no doubt get a crack in NAB cup, so instead of us keyboard Coaches passing opinion, I reckon we just sit back, observe and let Brett Peak's actions determine whether he gets selected or not.
We also need to remember, Ross now has more flexibility so when we play a quicker team, Peak might come in for matchups etc. Anyway, our list has not got worse IMO, its got stronger, so lets put our faith in RL and wait for 2010! Go you Sainters!!!
