Peake a Saint!

I don't mind this. The bloke can play. He might not have done much in the last couple of years, but what we got him for, I think it at least gives us depth. The dude is quick, can get his hands on the footy, and if in the right environment may thrive. I don't think the pick was wasted.
I am still interested to see what we get for Bally now?
Don't think they're entertaining the Fev trade so I'm thinking only early draft picks? Interesting time of year!

Saints were after Peake from the start of trade period. He was an under performing player in an under performing team. Saints offer him a new scenario. He helps to address the one clear deficiency in our game, speed. This was exposed by both Essendon and Bulldogs. With Lovett, we have a whole new dimension added. Lyon hasn't made many mistakes!

i dont get it lyon gets you lot playing in a way that is fantastic defensively, where all players on the park have to be accountable. what does he go and do? andy lovett. sheesh like davis at collingwood like milne he will go missing when the pressure goes on pick 16 for a 28yo outside inconsistant skinny soft prick.
and then he comes up with brett peake he was asked not that long ago where can you lot improve the answer was delivery how does this butcher of the ball help delivery.

Lovett is 26, not 28. This is also the Saints board, and we don't tolerate other fans coming on here to post disrespectful stuff about our team.

Lyon knows what hes doing, Lovett has exquisite skills and is blindingly quick, Peake is another half back run with option.
We needed to address pace and we have, with a good Collingwood player to add to the mix.
All we have lost is X Clarke who WILL be traded and Ball.

Funny if ball ends up staying, I will have to LOVE him again!

Anybody else get the feeling we are going to see evolution no two of our game plan with a lot more run and kicking from 50 out rather than using the forwards inside 50?

Looks to me like we are building a team of half backs with only three real forward (Roo, Kosi and Milne/Schnieder). Everybody accountable and able to defend, then BANG.

Although the above paragraph was this years game plan, bypassing the forward 50 may well be the revolution.

You do realise that Lyon has acheaved twice as much in three years than wallace and spud did in ten..

Why all of the sudden is X on the way out????? What happened and why?

I love the fact were going for pace. This is exactly what we needed at the saints. i was screaming for pace last year. We definatley struggled to move the ball by hand at times this year.
This is getting very exciting for 2010. Peake and Lovett 2 very fast defender/midfielders. I cant wait to see who we sign next.

Why all of the sudden is X on the way out????? What happened and why?

Michael Voss as he ran, and ran and ran and shimmied, ran some more, stopped for a grilled cheese sammich, ran some more again, got a stitch, finally reached Melbourne and said "right X marks the spot where is he? There's gold in them thar hills!"

Ross trundles out X, Vossy creams his pants, gets new pants, thanks himself for the new pants before making an offer that we go "oh geeze that cap is pretty tight, we might have to, woe is us."

And thus did the search for treasure start...

I appreciate the 1%s in your remarkable post.

That's certainly cleared it up for me....

I thank you.

saint's fans you don't seem to understand how horrible brett peake is! he is going to add nothing to your team

Soft as butter, chooses the worst option and then cant hit it anyway.. and in pressure games goes missing. Can work hard to find space though so can be an outlet from defense. Worth the gamble for pick 48 though I guess you never know Lyon may be a genius

I have a feeling Ross Lyon believes he can turn any player into a player with a solid defensive game... he has proven this in the past... therefore he selects the players with outstanding attacking games and enjoys the task of making them complete by improving their defensive game... e.g. Lovett and Peak... I think Lyon will have them both playing Saints Footy come 2010..

Saints look to Peake in 2010!... Gotta Lovett! :)

Peake doesnt have a defensive bone in his body.
Only time he runs fast is with the ball.
I think he will be an ok player for you guys wont be in the 22 every week but will prob be next inline so if any midfield type players are injured he will get games.
Best played on wings or off the half forward line with a license to push into midfield.
Will need the inside midfielders dishing the ball out to him in space to be damaging.

With Lyon getting Peake an Lovett i think hes looking to make the saints alot more attacking next year.
As both of them dont seem to have much of a defensive game at all or work hard off the ball.

Not with Peake. Lyon hasn't succeeded with every trade...Charlie Gardiner and that Richmond reject whose name I've forgotten to name a couple. Peake will be de-listed by 2010. As for Lovett, now there's a player that we need and who will succeed big time. If we can get x-man back on to the field then the two together will be unstoppable. Geeze we're going to be good

I just can't see how Peake is going to get a game for you?

I mean 48 is nothing but you would of gone close to getting him for a 5th rounder or even the PSD?

Oh well footy is a funny old game.

Brett Peake nearly made me break my TV. I hope for your sake that if he ever gets a game that he doesn't cause the same for you (or invest in a screen protector?), but considering Etihad is probably more slippery than Subi...
