Is it just me or does any other magpies out there rather have tazza in our team than pebbles... i am not turnin on the big fella... and i hope i eat my words at the end of the season... but this is a big WHAT IF Rocca was traded to Fremantle two years ago for pick 8 and medders??? would we of won the flag last year??? would have scarlett dominated the game from the back line like he did???

PS... I like pebbles but just a confersation i had at work today with few of the guys!!!

No Problem fellas :) it was just a question, im not here to troll just a argument i had at work lmao... well hopefully pebs shows what he shown on elimation final night!!!:thumbsu: but for the whole year... oh wouldnt that be good!

Tarrant cops so much unwarranted shit imo.

I have plenty of respect for him.

You'd be hard pressed to find one harder working forward.

Really? because I think if he had spent a little more time on his goal kicking technique rather than clubbing we'd be on 15 premierships right now

WHAT IF Rocca was traded to Fremantle two years ago for pick 8 and medders???

Rocca didn't have nearly the same value as Tarrant - we wouldn't have gotten much more than a pick in the 20's for him at best.

Having said that, in the current side, Rocca is still the better option, since Cloke filled brilliantly into the role that Tarrant used to play, and we don't have any other power forward in our side.

they would never have done the same deal for Rocca, so it not really an issue.

Tarrant's head just wasn't right. I expected him to have a big year in 07 and he didn't come good, so perhaps his talent will never really be realised.

Tarrant was my favourite on the feild but hes just such a d!ck off it.

anthony rocca bleeds for this club and has never done anything to tell me any different.

i heard from a very reliable that chris tarrant asked to be traded. so good on him and im glad hes gone.

It's strange talking about these 2 blokes

One cost us the 2002 GF with his innacuracy

The other cost us the 2003 GF with a suspension

Rocca takes more contested marks, kicks more goals and keeps his nose clean.
Now we have Trav presenting across HF/CHF I don't think we'd have a huge use for Taz anymore.

Yes i tend to agree with majority,i would still prefer Rocca.
It's interesting that you mention those grand finals. In 2003,Rocca was the difference but he missed out.
Tarrant could have helped us win the 2002 grand final but his kicking lets him down.He could have put the game beyond doubt just before three quarter time and given us a slight edge, but history shows something different.
2003 he did, well not much in the grand final, but he had his best season.
Since then well ,he has a great tank but can't kick staight.
Rocca would be better value for another season or two and now the players around him have got more strength and speed and believe me geelong's backline will have a tougher time looking after a forward line of cloke, rusling, rocca, medhurst, reid, with appreances from either fraser or wood and once he hits his straps chris dawes.

Also,i forgot to mention, during the coaching days of Tony Shaw, one of tarrant or mal micheal was going to be traded.
Tony Shaw actually said i had to get rid of one of them,so he picked Mal Michael who went to Brisbane and the rest is history.
In hindsight we should have kept, Mal and traded Tarrant back then, becuase Mal wanted to stay at collingwood and tarrnt even back then didn't really wanmt to play sebnior footy,at one stage i think he walked out on the club and went back home prefering to hang with his mates, than play AFL footy, collingwood had to convince him to come back,we should have seen the writing on the wall back then.

Rocca could at least kick the odd goal or 7 from outside 50. Tarrant would miss from 20 out in front.

No Brainer. I just hope that Reid isn't going down the same path as Tarrant, from what I have seen at AFL level (I dont watch VFL), his set shots don't inspire confidence in me.

i dont think you can base or compare reids skill to tarrant in any way. reids what 18 or 19? and played five or so games?

give him some time. he looks and seems like a good kid. has lots of potential to be something great. dale thomas first few games werent exactly confidence boosting with his kicking. now i see him as a prettty reliable kick under pressure.

if the work ethics there the rest will come

It's just you, Pie in da Sky, or you've fallen into bad company.

Hold the faith - Rocca will more than earn his keep this year. I expect the year 2003 is burned into his heart. Time to redeem the situation.....

Its not relevant because we would have received a 2nd round pick at best for rocca. He simply did not have the trade value. Having said that would clokes development have been as good had tarrant been in the side??

On the field he runs just as hard as anyone in the AFL imo. I have a lot of respect for the way he plays.

Yeah it does look like im on my own... but football is all about opinions:D
another thing yes i am one of those tarrant fans... this bloke had something about him his best is yet to come so for all those dream team fans... get him in ur team! first year at a new club isnt easy... just have a look at medders... he started coming on in the finals... another one is brad ottens...took him a while... heath scotland.... was ordinary first year at blues.. now he is looking good
