Do we give these clubs.

Imo this year, the one that finishes worse.....get rid of them.

The bye is annoying.

Nobody likes a competition where the result is a foregone conclusion.

I myself am on the Peel bandwagon. More out of hope than a realistic feeling.

Dead serious.

For starters Peel are aligned with Freo so they wont be going anywhere, they struggled on and off the field before the alignment and they still are just proves you can't polish a turd, its pretty sad when Perth who turned over 30 players during the summer beat Peel who had eight Dockers playing for them.

The sad thing is the Freo supporters who were in favor of the alignment only care about the stats and who is playing well thats players from the Dockers, Peel winning comes a distant second i think you will find EP and Peel will have the lowest attendances this year and thats from supporters not renewing their memberships due to the alignment i'm a Freo member but there's no way i would switch Wafl clubs just because of the alignment.

So saying getting rid of Perth is a bit rich especially when they are well supported, and if they get on a roll and win some games early on you will find they would be one of the most supported teams in the Wafl.

If you look at the players drafted over the years from Perth you'll find that they have a very good success rate their zones a top notch only one thing holding this club back and thats the people running the show.

I've always been against Peel being in the competition but with Fremantle aligned with Peel now and the fact that they produce a lot of good players from the district there is little chance of the WAFL letting Peel fold. The same would apply to the other eight traditional clubs, something drastic would have to go down for those clubs to fold or even merger.

And with crowds increasing every year I think the WAFL is in alright shape despite everything that is going on at the moment.

So it'll be great having these two clubs getting belted when the comp is watched by more people on commercial TV.

....

Strengthen the comp's quality. Forget what it does for the AFL.

Perth won today. Not going to happen.

Hard to see any club going down unless there is a money shortage in the WAFL.
All i can see in time is maybe an amalgamation between two clubs so we get back to a eight team comp.

I agreed with you till you said this.

They have the lowest membership base after Peel.

WAFL clubs main function these days is to bring the best local juniors through the ranks and we all know what happens to the cream of the crop.

I was at the EP host club meeting in October, and Bronte Howson said it's simply not feasible to have a 9 team comp in the future, he can't see it lasting.

Take EP for example, one of the largest followed and corporate supported WAFL clubs.

He said it takes $2million to run the club.

We make:

$65,000 per annum in gate takings.
$55,000 per annum in membership.

We then get a $360,000 grant from the WAFL.

We then have to find $1.5mill out of somewhere.

The word is Bronte has been propping the club with about $1mill yearly.

He said we are one of the larger spenders in the football department - the lowest is Perth and look at their lack of success - 3 finals appearances since 1977, the last in 1997 (I was 8).

Claremont have run at a loss the last two season, although they've won back to back flags AND the Foxtel Cup.

For me, Perth will eventually fold. They've got nearly nothing, from supporter base to sponsorship, and their districts could be easily distributed between the none aligned clubs.

It's as if they saw this thread!
You should use your powers for good BERBA, like say Swans are stuffed, or something like that. ;):p
