Do you need a big tank to play the Duffield role? That kick is superb

Not really, but you need burst pace and be strong in one on one. Something we all use to criticize Duffield for, lack of one on capabilities. Weller was amazing against the dogs in that role. Watch the replay, he won a number of 50/50s, and got the ball going back our way by simply being first to the ball put out into space. Despite being under pressure he has the wheels to make space and pick a good option. In the same scenario Spurr gets tackled and creates a ball up. Weller was brilliant, much higher ceiling than Duffield.

He doesn't run off his man so his kick isn't brought into play very often. I would think we would want a rebounding defender to be averaging more than 10 touches a game at the 2nd level before we thought about about drafting them.
Take away that booming boot and whats left is a decentish lock down WAFL key defender.

I haven't watched much of Peel this year but can anyone tell me how Bootsma is going and what role he's playing? I'm kind of hoping we rookie him but is that realistic or has he just been a serviceable player in the WAFL?

I will rookie him , if there is a spot, he already play for peel what harm to take him as project . Worse come to worse delisted him end of 2017 season.

Better kick than dawson, but size still like a kid. Regarding his tank , i dont see it as a problem loh, especially if this season freo go back to running.

Good to see opinions of Josh Deluca have changed slightly. Kid deserves another crack. Has had 2 interupted seasons with injury but has finished this season getting better and better with each game. I think the tenacity at which he attacks the ball could make him a great spot filler for a Ballantine/Mayne type role. He's done a great job in a run with/tag type role also. Has a huge tank, is fast but just needs to tidy up his disposal. An uninterupted pre-season under his belt, I think he will press for a spot early next season.

Yeah we're heading up for a look, don't think we'll go early, but definitely for the feature. Could be a little bit of weather early in the game though!

I notice they named Griffin on the field but Hannath on the bench. I hope they don't play; Clarke, Griffin, Hannath and Apeness. It's just a bit too slow and cumbersome.

Possibly - but I like the idea of a ruck, two tall forwards and resting ruck.

I'm going to assume Clarke will do the majority of the ruck work and the rest will spend time in forward. More options for our midfield to kick to and more opportunities for Yarran to exploit those opportunities.

Agreed, after watching him play in the first final and a few times before that it looks like he has what it takes to make it to AFL level, he's got real flair and speed about him which is precious these days. I'll be fuming if he gets the chop, he's proving he's taking the next step, and with our small forward stocks there's really no benefit of Deluca being one of the players within the mass exodus.

No unfortunately. Looks like Channel 7 can only cover one game simultaneously. They only have enough 1980s equipment for one game.
