Given our current debaclement of the current senior list I look at it and wonder who is going to stand up and be a leader next to him but all I'm seeing is average footballers.
I think Pendleburys prime years have now been wasted and if we ever do build up to having a good list again his career will be just about over if not completely gone.
I worry we are going to be in one massive mess.
I struggle to name ten good footballers down at Collingwood.

Pendlebury
Sidebottom
Cloke?
Everyone else either too injury prone or too young to judge.
We have become a very very below average club.
It's time for you have an off-season. You are clearly running out things to complain about.

You are the sort of bloke who would get a root with Miranda Kerr but complain because she didn't bring a friend.

Shit analogy but best i have.

Is there anything at Collingwood you are happy with? Serious question?
Not right now no because we aren't going well.
Is a train crash we've been watching for 3 years in slow motion but just let it happen.

I am concerned with the balance of our list. Beams almost feels like a tipping point. Together with the pending loss of Lumumba I reckon we are thrown out of whack. Our strength and our potential to contend again revolves around our seniors with star power. There were 6 and it looks like it will be 5. Pendles, Reid, Swan, Cloke and Sidey with Beams going. Beams is probably as important as any of them because of his obvious ability and relative youth. He was the one most likely to be around when we contend again. Swanny wont be as I dont see us improving too much in the next 2 seasons. Cloke wont be a power forward too much longer. Reid probably doesnt have a long career. We have hit a tipping point where we are really into a total rebuild and we dont have any group of players coming through that would have the class of our big six.

Can i give a couple of suggestions?

Our financial position is very good, we still have the most members in the league, we missed out on finals by 1 game after being there the last 7 years, our list is very young and lastly we are not Carlton.

It doesn't work like THATSGOLD is suggesting. Having a great player at your club is irrelevant. Lots of other things need to go right. It makes no sense to look at your best player and say that his peak will coincide with your team challenging.

Exactly. Id like to see someone argue with this post. Impossible.

Heath Shaw could've been an excellent leader going in to 2015 with Pendlebury captain but we couldn't handle him.
Wellingham could've been stepping in to a captaincy role Chris Dawes was well educated would be the right age and well spoken and should be helping Pendlebury, Beams is the one though for me.
I don't see anyone on our current list that can help Pendlebury, either too young or injury prone.

TG, you cant be serious. Wellingham was, and remains, the least likely candidate for captain, or even to be part of the leadership group.

In terms of our current crop of youngsters, I see Elliott and Langdon as future club leaders; others cite Tay Adams and Matt Scharenberg in that category; Steelo showed some good leadership this year.

I am concerned about the short-term leadership situation, but mid to longer term I think we will do OK.

Someone who is a natural leader doesn't need "handling" by the club. I absolutely love Heater's passion for the jumper and I was vocal he should have being kept, but he was reportedly disruptive and you can't have that in people appointed as senior leaders (aware he was part of the leadership group at one point)

He's struggling to get games at West Coast and he was a future leader? What leadership skills did he show?

Chris Dawes was well educated would be the right age and well spoken and should be helping Pendlebury,

He was poor in 2011 & 2012. If I recall correctly you were calling for his head at the time too.

Beams is the one though for me.

Buckley's fault his old man is sick, obviously

No it doesn't. Pendlebury like many others in that premiership side won a flag at a very early age.
It's just a shame a great man like Pendlebury is having the prime years of footballer wasted by carrying the club on his shoulders much the same way Buckley himself carried it as a player in the 90s.

Folks,

There are no excuses for abuse of fellow posters, ever.

A bunch of folks in here would ordinarily get banned just because they got sucked in by a thread like this.

Why not just ignore it?
