If you were Mick Malthouse, and you were going into a game against the best side this year in a game where a win or loss is so costly, and you had one of your star midfielders left out of the side on the weekend, would you A) come out and tell the truth straight up, or B) keep St. Kilda and the footy world guessing about whether they have to plan for one of our A graders or a different player.

Just quietly I would keep the other side guessing.

Teams these days will plan for both him in and out of the side.

That's probably true, but it would be nothing more than human nature for a player or 2 at St. Kilda to think, hey Pendles is out, that makes it easier, and then seeing him in and their confidence falls a little.

I used to do the same thing playing country footy when you thought a good player was out, and then you saw the bugger turn up.

i was a tagger, Thrusday night we playing you forward this week pressure role cause so and so is missing. Game day you are on so on so go with him all day everywhere

The "main" training session is tomorrow, and while it is supposed to be a "closed" session, we will know by lunch time tomorrow if Pendles is any chance of playing.

I'd say if he is going to play, he would have to train tomorrow, and maybe then they could rest him from Saturday's last minute tuning session.

I recall that vividly. We had made a late change in every single game that year. MM comes out Monday and says Bucks won't play. Williams says we expect him to play. Bucks doesn't play and Licca plays the best game of his career in torching Josh Francou for 40+ possessions.

Oh yeah...massive underdogs with not a so-called expert in site tipping us and guess what.. we WON!!!!!

IIRC Buckley was also an Emergency that day, we had no intention of playing him but Williams was that sucked in by malthouse he lapped it all up
