Who gives a ****. It's a bit of fun. Big whoop.

If you wanna get all fired up about wasted public money go visit your local MP and talk to him bout his super plan or something like that.

spot on. Or voice your disapproval at the detention centres which are built only to be burnt down and then no doubt, rebuilt again using tax payers money !

Or combine the 2 and instead of letting off the bangers over the Harbour Bridge we can set the things off at Port Headland.

Bring back Guy Fawkes Night! People have their own private Fireworks display in their street/suburb.

This year, people were lining up for the Australia Day fireworks at 8.30am while at 7.55pm me and some mates walked to the South Perth foreshore and probably got exactly the same view as the people who had been there for 12 hours!

The only time fireworks are a waste of money, no fun, old timers stuff etc etc etc is say on a 2 in the afternoon on a last Satuday in Sept at a place like.. oh I dont know.. the MCG.

Otherwise they're great.

In SA until last year they had fireworks legal with a permit system.ie permit to buy and permit to set off. but the fun police put a stop to that!!:(

We've had idiots setting off fireworks since 9pm tonight [about every half hour].I haven't heard any ambulances yet,so they haven't blown up in their hand .These idiots set off a few fireworks nearly every saturday night.

You've seen one fireworks show, you've seen them all.

The early fireworks in Sydney were cancelled last night because of unfavourable weather conditions.
Makes it even more baffling why last year's fireworks, during the height of the bushfire crisis, was allowed to go ahead.

They're fine if professionals are shooting them off.

I don't appreciate drunken morons shooting them off in big crowds, like they were last night. One went off about a metre in front of us. Some of the debris hit my wife in the foot and my ears are still ringing 20 hours later from the noise.

I cringe when I see middle aged moms and old people really get into the fireworks. I think to myself "how simple".

:o
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I was starting to think I was alone. I just don't get fireworks?
