Should be more of them

I'm glad Welsh didnt make any money from Sunday...well I'm not but I would prefer a performance like that not to be rewarded

I think there needs to be more of them. I know the incentive is to play well in your first 2 years and get a great second contract, but it must burn guys like VB who were on rookie contracts and busting a boiler and seeing a bloke like Welsh pocket his $5,000 a week for doing nothing

I think they suit certain players more than other. No need to have people like goodie or macca on one but for players like welsh who run hot and cold its def the best option.

i dont think he would have made NO money, hw would just get the basic wage not the wage he has earned in past years

I'm all for them.

Why pay players good money for poor returns. Alternatively players who give week after week should be rewarded.

Matthew Smith would still be on a payment program to the AFC. :D

I disagree with them.
One year contracts is one thing, but performance based is quite another.
If you do not think a player will perform to the level he should then chances are he might be worth something on the trade table, so either delist or trade and get someone that you know will put in.

tend to agree.

there is also a large amount of literature on the fact that performance based contracts have limited effectiveness.

nice in theory, but a player standing up the high ball, isn't thinking about his paycheck.

I think the only time they're effective or necessary is if you've either got a hothead who keeps getting suspended or an older player with a history of injuries.

When Perrie stands under a ball or lines up for goal.............performance based remuneration won't change the result

;)

No, but it might encourage him to spend some quality time practicing kicking the ball between the big sticks during the week.

That practice has been done and dusted. It doesn't seem to be improving.
