Why is it amusing that people on a sports forum would be more interested/involved in a sporting event than a pop star's show?
Because people are trying to make it a political issue and act like they're being impartial. So it's their attempts to disguise their self interest that I find amusing. Also I wasn't just talking about this forum.

Weirdly for a open day, there's no access to the turf, but then again, it is in cricket mode

Cricket mode with the goalposts in :p
Makes sense actually, so people can see the layout. If there wasn't a match on the oval in a week I would have put some of the "rectangular seats" in as well so people can see what it'll be like.

Wouldn't have thought 100000 people trudging all over the grass a week before hosting its first game would be a good idea. Though the way Aussies are going at SCG the game will be a dead rubber :(

Heading in soon! 4:30-5:30 session. Kids can check out the things going on outside first.
When you posted this the Aussies had bowled what, 5 overs? With only one going for more than six. That's a bit presumptuous given they've now got England 2/45 within 10 overs.

Was pretty amazing to walk around it this morning. View from the top level is still awesome but the ground level seats seem to have a way better view than anywhere I've been before. Toilets and food everywhere, only a short walk to the station cant really fault anything with the stadium at all.

I was going off the last 205 overs to tell you the truth. More than happy to be proved wrong though.

Agreer the ground level seats are actually awesome even front row would be a fantastic view of the game.

Top row of the top tier is pretty bad with the pool fence

Front row ground level was $100 cheaper than the row behind for Fremantle members. Was that the same for Eagles members?

I think they were. They werent available for people to choose initially and were offered to ppl as alternatives later

That’s a problem at Etihad and the MCG as well, though not as bad as that. The rails around the entrances on the top tier at those grounds are a pain as well.

Some of the newer arenas in America have gone to clear Perspex in these areas, but with the sun in Perth that probably wasn’t an option.

How tall are you? Im relatively tall so it wasnt so bad but wouldnt want my permanent seat to be there. But as your in the second row or back that tier was so steep that its not an issue for any other row.

VenuesLive suggested voluntary conditions, such as a limit of four beers per transaction, alcohol-free zones, a ban on shooters and jugs, prohibiting the mixing of booze with energy drinks

A 4 drink limit (with the option to reduce as needed) would surely work much better than no limit on mid strength surely.
A 4 drink limit(4 beers or 2 spirits and beer) is what the MCG & Etihad. Full or mid strength.
put on extra buses then.
You'll still have the same issue.

Sitting down but the phone was possibly a bit above eye level but the fence didnt look a noticeable issue - well for kids it probably would be
ok been hearing a lot about fences even at ground level, but it doesn't appear to be an issue then
