Agreed - just get on with it, all evens out in the end.
I don't know if the St Kilda GF side of 2009 would agree with you there.

Like cricket, the review system was brought in to eradicate the "howlers". But you end up getting a lot of 50-50 decisions getting reviewed. I can live with that if it means the howlers (see Hawkins poster in 09 GF) are corrected.

Wellingham hit the post and was gifted a goal in the 2011 GF as well - miraculously Geelong still won!

I'd be fine with howlers, but it's used way too often.

2D v 3D, can you definitely prove his boot has made contact with the ball prior to it finally crossing the line ?
Haven't you seen the movies. They can rotate, zoom in and depixelate.

It's funny how no one remembers the Wellingham goal that hit the post in the 3rd quarter of the 2011 GF

i took that screengrab on Foxtel. The umpires with slow-mo and exact frame by frame obviously saw enough proof to make it a goal. Stop whinging.

The goal was awarded to Heeney? Either way it needs to be conclusive and there is no reason to believe he made context with the ball before it cleared the line. The footage needs to show that. Again and again they're changing umpires decisions without any clear need to do so.

Got no problem with the system except that they stuff it up like they do with cricket. A review system should be used to give the right decision in the third umpires opinion. Goal umpire calls he thinks it’s a goal but is not 100% sure then almost every time the review agrees with the goal umpire, yet if the goal umpire had of said he thinks it’s a point but not 100% sure the review would also agree with him most times.
The review should only ever be used if the goal umpire does not know, then the review system is there to make a decision without having to lean one way or the other to make the goal umpire and the AFL feel good.

People expect these things to be perfect and because its not they Wana an get rid of it but it's still a human making the decision so it never will be.

DRS in cricket has reduced errors from 1 in 10 to 1 in 40 which is 400% better and people still want to to go back because it's not 100%.

Nah I think it's good. Anything to make it more objective. People complain enough about umpire decisions. Maybe they could use technology to help: like say a laser in the post or something lol. But it's like hawkeye in tennis, it will prevent McEnroe style meltdowns and dummy spits, which I guess is one downside, haha, but I like it.

I like the score review system. If its unclear then it defaults to umpires decision anyway so basically the only complaint is it slows the game down. Pretty insignificant next to getting the decision right more of the time I would have thought.

Could it be better? Yes, but its useful even in its current form.
