No-one from the Fremantle Football Club has ever claimed such a direct and continuous link. We have however claimed the heritage and only a weirdo carved out of dugong buttocks would deny that.

Only in left profile and then only in the morning sun.

A fanatical Dockers mate of mine is constantly carping on about the Fremantle heritage the Eagles have - i.e. Jako, Monkey Brennan, Chris Waterman, David Hart, Woosha, Mainy et al.

That would suggest that the Eagles too have a Fremantle heritage, arguably more so than the original Dockers lineup. Does that make them the Fremantle Eagles?

Sort of a zen koan really.

Sadly - often. So now I'll do a pauline. Please explain.

BTW - did you notice the size of the lump that my tongue was making in my cheek?

He or she is just using Standard Response #35 in the "How To Annoy Weavils" Handbook.

By the way, those names, they're not "heritage" - they're players. Your flags were won with Fremantle players. Players from Fremantle, where there was originally a club called the Fremantle Football Club. As there is today.

No-one said history was meant to be neat. Following Italian politics would be easier than following the shenanigans that have gone on over the hundred plus years of Fremantle football.

But the links are there. They are being built on every day.

What's weird is that it took a Victorian-led administration to start really strengthening the ties that bind.

I leave you with this: Luke Mcpharlin's grand-dad played Centre Half Forward for the East Fremantle Football Club. His Gran is proud as punch that the legacy continues. That's heritage in action for ya.

Talk to Granny McPharlin about "direct and continuous links." She'll tune you in.

In that context McPharlin bears more than a passing resemblance to Luke Skywalker only he appears to have succumbed to the dark side.

If only he used his power for good instead of evil.

I would have thought any sporting team largely derives its sense of heritage from the players who have donned the club jersey throughout its history. The Eagles have heritage, with important parts of it inextricably linked with the Fremantle area.

And we never poached them from Fremantle - Freo as a team weren't even a dribble down the trouser leg of the AFL when those famous Freo progeny scaled the heights with the Eagles.

I see this as a sure sign of your theological derangement. You poor devils think you are "good," but you are the Evils, the West Coast Evils, and you're flying high.

For a significant portion of your football-related company's history, you had as head coach The Father of All Pies - Mick Mephistopheles. Of course, he anglicised it to "fit in", but that's just part of his devilish ways.

You are corrupted but not irredeemably.

That would explain his fully rotational head and projectile green vomit.

Malthouse was a faustian bargain that brought us much fame and glory. The only problem was that you felt so cheap, dirty and used after the event.

I'll trust in St John and pass on the Dockers apostasy.

Bugger!

That's a big blow now that Ready has been delisted. I hope that he gets redrafted

He might be training with the Demons. But i've heard from a source (not sure on the reliability) but he will be a magpie next year. Apparently soon as he was delisted he and Mick spoke. When Malthouse coached your lot he said read would play a **** load of games for the eagles.

Wouldn't be surprised. Looks like after the grand final Colliwobbles that Mick is trying to start an Eagles re-union down at the pies.

That was back in the days when he had knees. (Read that is, not Malthouse (although he had some too))
