Could you tell us a little more about him? Like athleticism, disposal, pace etc?
Seen the Canons a couple of times this year, and Farmer has been impressive both times. A good footy brain, and will give you 110% effort every time he goes out. Has been playing BP, but pushed up into the midfield and did quite well there as well. In fact, IIRC, he even kicked a couple of goals.

Would be a fantastic acquisition to any club that was clever enough to draft him.

Not super quick, but adequate given his natural football abilities.

Sounds like a good natural talent then but we'll have to see.

I hope we don't trade for Symes ,I really don't believe he adds anything to the Crows that we don't have already, I'd much rather they draft Matt Wright from North Adelaide, he'll be a gun in my opinion.

Yep, agreed :thumbsu: Much rather use the draft pick and work with what we've got.

Wright is a very good player, i wouldn't cry if we picked him, he's a great talent.

Apparently we were very keen on him last year as a bottom ager, but went with Bryce Campbell instead. Would have rookied him if eligible.

This year he captained Calder Cannons to the premiership, hes a 180cm defender/midfielder who (I think) made the All Australian team. Exceptional reader of the play.

Well built.

Didnt he also tell clubs he wanted to stay at school? I recall reading about him last year in IF and thinking he would be a good pickup...even if we let him stay in Melbourne and finish school

Oh and one notable thing.

Since 2004, we've drafted someone who played in the TAC Cup Premiership.

Calder 04: Maric
Calder 05: Douglas
Oakleigh 06: Mackay
Calder 07: Farmer??? Who knows. ;)
There is no doubt we like our Calder Cannons boys. Reilly, Maric, Douglas....

I've seen Farmer play everywhere. He's a handy midfielder and be pretty damaging out of the middle but he's also very apt in the forward line and back line. I think it was CC who was wondering if he was All Australian this year. He wasn't and it was an absolute rort! Definitely in the best 10 players at the Champs.

At the Champs Farmer was pretty much a specialist back pocket and you could have been easily confused into thinking that's where he's played his whole life. Truth be told, that's where I've seen him play the least, but that's probably because he's too important and damaging at TAC level to play in the back pocket. On the bigger stage he filled the role perfectly though.

He is also a real goal sneak and can play deep in the forward line. He can be a real handful to match up on because he's pretty agile and reads the play very well. Maric will probably go earlier but I like the complete package that Farmer brings (and the later pick).

EDIT: By the way, I'm talking about Farmer for our second or third round picks here. Didn't want to confuse since I mentioned he was in my best 10 of the Champs. I just meant that he had a good week.

Mail in Melbourne suggests that Ebert may slip to 10 from The Age
1. Matthew Kreuzer Northern Knights, 18, 199 centimetres, 94 kilograms
2. Trent Cotchin Northern Knights/PEGS, 17, 184cm, 81kg
3. Cale Morton Claremont, 17, 192cm, 79kg
4. Lachie Henderson Geelong Falcons, 17, 196cm, 90kg
5. Jarrad Grant Dandenong Stingrays, 18, 191cm, 77kg
6. Ben McEvoy Murray Bushrangers, 18, 200cm, 90kg
7. Chris Masten East Fremantle, 18, 179cm, 78kg
8. Rhys Palmer East Fremantle, 18, 180cm, 76kg
9. David Myers Perth, 18, 190cm, 85kg
10. Brad Ebert Port Adelaide Magpies, 17, 187cm, 86kg
11. Cyril Rioli St Mary's, Darwin/ Scotch College, 18, 178cm, 74kg

I have this feeling it will be Rioli.....and to be honest, he fits our small-forward needs quite nicely.

that's not always the case it may not be the best avaliable player but it might be the Best avaliable player with height or speed or wahtever we are looking for at that time!
good point but i predict that JR will say 'we will pick the best player available'.

wouldnt mind seeing some aboriginal talent injected into the side!

high 11 for the beep is terrible.

bugger me! i do 10.5 for the beep test and i'm an unfit fat bastard. if this kid can only do high 11's now he's got a LONG way to go.
