Pick 14

I know. But so is Harley.

Made me think of that guy a few years back that was ultra talented and went undrafted, then the Hawks took a punt on him the following year only for it to blow up in their faces a few weeks into preseason, who was that?
If Harley's calves were good, he would be a star.

His attitude the issue. I loves stack attack on the ball.

I wouldn't be apposed to taking Jye Caldwell if he is available at our pick., Has had injuriy problems this year but is a seriously big unit, great at clearances and looks to have a bit of pace away from stoppages.
Would take Caldwell in a heart beat but reckon there is no chance he's available at our first pick.

Agreed, but given the depth of the first round I’m liking our chances of landing some high quality at 14.

Or at least having some available to overlook and subsequently regret...

I think Wallsy would blow his load if Caldwell was available at our pick. I love his highlights package. You would have to imagine he'd be classed in that stand out top 7/8 if he didnt have those injuries. Apart from the fact that he has great pace AND skills off both feet what stands out to me is just how clean he is when the ball comes near him, its one grab EVERY DAMN TIME. That shits almost impossible to teach.

Interesting spread of players that phantom's have us taking at 14. I have seen:

iHill (most amateurs and by Sheehan and Twomey)
Stocker (DPS)
Butters (KM)
Sturt (Chris)
Caldwell (we wish)
Jones maybe?

I truly have no feel for this at all. I tend to think we take Hill if he is there and the AFL guys thinking that solidifies that but think they had us taking LDU at 2 last year and now we have Andy.

It is going to piss me off having to wait until Friday for our other 3 picks though.

I'm less confident about anyone sliding a long way to #14 (which will no doubt be #16) - the top 10ish seem almost locks to be taken before us and then I kind of feel we end up picking from whomever is left over out of the next best 8 or so (inc Butters, Sturt, Duursma, Stocker, Hill, Collier-Dawkins, Hately, Jones).

In other news... the AFL Draft Machine just went up... So now we can waste every moment of spare time we have looking at highlight videos.

Was after some video of Caldwell, draft machine has some... wow he is good, dual sided player, very clean.., would be very happy if he fell to us!

We're interested in Zak Butter and Ned McHenry at Pick 14 according to FOX Sports

"Vic Metro half-forward Zak Butters appears to be one who could jump up on draft night and may be selected inside the early teens. Fremantle is one such club considering Butters, but he could be off the board by then. Bubbly half-forward/wingman Ned McHenry is another who the Dockers have been linked to."

I dont want to be a dick but that would almost rule those players out for us given our history. No one has a damn clue who we like going by past phantoms

After watching Ian Hills draft machine highlights i firmly we believe we should sack David walls if we don’t take him and he is available. He is an absolute gun and will compliment our new firwardline perfectly.

The fact he is a hill and from WA doesn’t come into my opinion at all. The similarities to Cyril is sickening.

The smart money has to be on Ian Hill.

Our pick is in a pretty bad spot I feel, in that there appears to be a couple of groupings that we'll miss out on. There's the almost consensus top 7 (Walsh, Lukosius, Rankine, M King, B King, Smith, Rozee) and then the top 10 bolters (Caldwell, Clark, Jones). It's then entirely possible that two of the more intriguing names in Hately and Collier-Dawkins are gone too. Which would leave us picking from the 'third' group.

The one I wouldn't be picking is Liam Stocker. He's a high floor, low ceiling type player for me. He's maybe like the 7th best inside midfielder in the draft? I'd rather use a second rounder on someone like Tom Joyce or Tom Lewis, or get into a position for Ely Smith or Tom Sparrow. Not much difference between Stocker and any of them I feel. Whereas there's more of a drop off when comparing Hill and Butters to the outside midfielders available later. Or Sturt and Taylor compared to medium forwards later in the draft.

My fairly realistic draft board would be...

1. Jackson Hately
2. Ian Hill
3. Sam Sturt

Yeah I got them feels where I’m under the pump at work, but I just want to binge watch draftee vids.

I'm with you on Stocker, seems to me a significant proportion of his dominance to this stage in his career was based off being 10kg heavier than a lot of his opponents. At 183cm he will never have this advantage at AFL level. Additionally with his endurance low and having shown very little as anything other than a mid I can't see him playing more than a handful of games next year and so his 'AFL ready body' isn't.

I would be ecstatic with Hately, seems a bit of a drop given what hes produced in the SANFL, no?

Do you think Crows would have Hately all but inked in if available? Would Port consider?

What are your thoughts on what Port did in their pick trades with us? It looks to me like they won't get a look at either Rankine or Lukosius unless GCSs go for Rozee. And while I can perhaps understand if GCSs preferred Rozee to Rankine, at Port's pick I would prefer either M King or Smith if I was them.

Hately would slot into our B22 IMO. No way he gets passed Adelaide or Port
