If we believe what we read we will get Swift or Sidebottom at Pick 11.

I see Pick 29 just as important as Pick 11, So I am putting some Players we might get at pick 29:

Nick Heyne
Snoop took him in the BF Mock Draft, Good Left-Foot Midfielder who can go Forward and Kick Goals. Good in Clearances, Just needs work on his Consistency.

Nick Suban
A inside mid who can also play as a Defender. Big long kick. Not Very Quick. Has Possible Leadership.

Jordan Roughead
If we do go a Ruckman at 29, The only 1 I think we would draft would be Roughead at 200cm. Has a Great Leap and Can play also as a Forward or Defender.

Michael Walters
Good Mid/Small Forward with Great Pace and Skills. Outside but Good at Ground level and Creative

Aaron Cornelius
Would be a Suprise but if he is there at 29 I would think we should take him. Great Marks and Good Kick.

Jayden Post
Could be a Very Good Pick-Up 195cm who can Play Forward or Back but Mostly Plays Back. Has great speed for a Guy that tall and can break Lines from the Defense. Reliable Right Foot.

Who do you think we will take Pick 29

Don't forget about the chances of Beams at 11. Real chance.

As for 29, I would like Zaharakis. But I don't see us going down this path.

My perfect scenario would be Swift at 11 and Beams at 29, but it's starting to look as though Beams won't be there at 29.

There is a Chance but I just can't see Hine being that Into Beams that he has already have him at Pick 11 and Ready to be Read Out in 2 weeks:(

The source that emailed me that you PM'd me about, emailed me again today and said that we are seriously into Beams and we might bite the bullet at 11.

That is the sources prediction for selection 11 at this point in time.

And like they said, we don't care about rating, if we like the player enough we will just take him even at 11.

It's not set in stone obviously, but get used to the fact that Beams might be read out at 11 and then on draft day it won't disappoint as much as it would've.

Dave, why is it you don't think we'd be into Beams at pick 11 exactly? Is it because he hasn't gone that high in peoples mock drafts? Bet it is.

Also, I would not describe Cornelius as a good kick. The opposite imo.

Im hoping swift at 11, beams at 29, post/gugliotta at 45, Roughead/ruckman at 46 and Begly at 73.

If we have that draft ill need tissues, new pair of underpants and il be having a smoke i should imagine

I'm just stoked that every thing indicates we will be looking at a midfielder at 11.

I'm on the Swift bandwagon because I like the word potential and hope he can become a megastar, but if we took Beams I would sit back and have faith that we took the right player. I reckon from the small amount I've actually seen of Beams he looks pretty good.

The Video of Beams looks good and Does fill a Need as a Clarence Inside/Mid but I just don't see enough Potential to be that Highly Rated.

He just played in Division 2 and No Division 1 that does not help.

Beams also has some arm inkwork that would fit in real well with swanny.

I wouldnt pay 11 for him but i really hope we get him at pick 29

2 weeks and we'll all find out.

I'm so keen on Swift.

If we don't take Beams I'm confident we'll take Swift. If available.

I think there is no doubt we're happy with Swift medically. We're being linked to him in 'mock drafts' that would have something of an inside word. We're obviously interested.

If we had both Swift and Beams available (I'd be pretty certain of Beams being available, and I'd be surprised if Swift was taken personally) then I'd think we'd be taking Swift over Beams. No Victorian bias to tip the scales in Beams' way, Swift has upside and proven ability, albeit as a junior.

I'd be thrilled with Swift.

The one thing that would worry me about Beams at 11, is that if we select him, what happens in 2 years time if he returns home to the Gold Coast. That would piss me off.

I'm as keen on Swift as anyone, but my recent history of trying to predict our drafting means that we will likely select Beams over the player I want.

It wouldn't bother me drafting him, but like I said, he better not go home in 2 years as he will have the access to them.

Beams could of gone to Them this year but Knocked it Back saying he would like to play AFL ASAP

Doesn't mean he wouldn't one day want to head home. Especially with the easy access they'll get to the new GC team before the 2011 season.

You'd want to know he is committed before drafting him, but the Pies would've done their homework on that.

I still think it could come into consideration when looking at players.

That doesn't eliminate the go home factor at all......

From the interviews I've seen of Swift, he seems mature and resolute. I'm confident that with those characteristics, along with the professionalism of the club that he would fit in very well and enjoy life at the club. I wouldn't be too worried about his go home factor.

By the way, is this Beams source the same one you pmed me about not too long ago about Shoenmackers Didaka?

Yes.

Says we're very keen on Beams. The exact words were we "love" him, and at this stage Beams is their current selection at 11, but also remained optimistic that Swift is in massive contention for the spot to. Thinks Sidebottom will slide now.

Did you get the feeling we rated Beams above Sidebottom?

Yes. From what was said Sidebottom isn't rated as highly by us as Swift or Beams.

By the looks of it he may slide, and whomever picks him up will consider it cheap.

Dave, you can't make that sort of call off a grainy YouToob vid, and I am thinking that you don't "see enough potential to eb that highly rated" because there is negligible hype around him. People talk up what they see and we have plenty of TAC/SANFL/WAFL watchers around.

A case in point is Sidebottom. Awesome Granny, no doubt about it. And he should be a player. But in the weeks after, you would get phantoms with him from 4-8 and people getting flamed if they dared slip him to Collingwood. Now Quayle and Inside footy don't have him top ten presumably on above average inside info with recruiting people (they both said maybe for one club here or there), and nobody has Sidey in their top ten anymore. Whilst Sidey earned some cred for that game, his queries that he has earnt over the whole TAC season and draft camp haven't gone away.

So basically concensus and hype is irrelevant. What is relevant is what a club is prepared to pay for a specific payer based upon their (hopefully) exhaustive research and analysis.

As for Div 2, 2006 produced David Armitage, Shaun Hampson, Albert Proud, Brent Renouf and Kurt Tippet from Queensland alone! Whilst none of them have had jaw drpping starts to their career, the all look promising (and I am being conservative). It shouldn't matter where they are from, although IMO, it is certainly ideal to see them play against better opposition.

For mine, I like it that we are linked with him and Swifty, because whilst you should never draft for type early, it sure wouldn't hurt to have a tenacious first touch inside midfielder in our midst.

Couldn't agree more. The earlier reports of Blease had me a little worried but was willing to accept it on the hunch we had an inside mid in mind at 29 and there appears to be a few of these types available later on.

The more recent reports (thanks Didaka) of Swift and Beams at 11 though are more pleasing. Both appear to have inside mid capabilities.

Beams looks like a tough hard at it mid and there were reports on the drafts forum from one poster who said he identified a few limitations in his athletic abilities so enlisted a personal trainer and has improved his speed and vertical jump. Not ground-breaking stuff but it shows a willingness to improve himself and a hunger to make it which I like.

Swift. Well he just looks like class and an ability to play inside and outside.

I'd be rapt with either of these two or Hannevery to be honest. Sorry.... make that Hannebery. I have not seen enough of Hannevery!

Yes.

Do they believe Swift will be picked up earlier, forcing you to take Beams instead?

Pretty sure Hannebery, Shuey and Zakaharis will be available at this pick. I would be happy with any of these.

Reckon there'd be a few bottom-eight sides who might just like Hannebery with their 2nd rounder, eliminating any chance of him sliding to 29. Otherwise that'd be ideal.

If we could nab two of Swift, Hannebery and Beams, we're doing very well.

Funny how all of a sudden people are rating Beams, even though he hasn't kicked a footy in anger for a few months now!
