I was honestly shocked to see anyone vote for anything other than Roo + God or Buddy and Hodge.

Clearly the 2 best combo's on the list.

Those 2 options combined are clearly the best for quality, although those 2 options wouldnt be the best suited for all clubs. For some1 like Hawthorn i could see them wanting Lake Cooney as they would love to have that gun backmen and a bit of extra pace in the guts.Sorry to use the bulldog option but just using as an example. I would love Riewoldt Goddard at the Dogs.

Wow tough choices

I went with Riewoldt & Goddard but Riewoldt & Martin, Lake & Cooney, Hodge & Franklin are hard to look past.

The rest have some guns, but those groups are the ones I would choose first.

Ablett and Swallow. Eagles NEED quality midfielders and those 2 looked the best choice for our current predicament. Hard to go past Franklin and Hodge BTW. Would've gone Frawley and Scully too.

PS Great thread :thumbsu:

In the short term, it's obviously one of Franklin/Hodge or Riewoldt/Goddard

If all 4 were fully fit I'd probably take the Hawks pair, though either would enable Geelong to win the 2011 flag.

Of the younger pairs it's out of Frawley/Scully and Riewoldt/Martin.

For the Western Bulldogs would be Hodge + Franklin, we are in our Window and Hall only has 1 more year left Getting those 2 players would mean premierships for the next 3-4 years (until Lake Retires). Majority of teams id pick Ablett + Swallow though, Ablett best player in the league, and Swallow is 18 and touted as the next potential Ablett.

FB: Morris Lake Wood
HB: Hargraves Williams Gilbee
C: Sherman Hodge Boyd
HF: Murphy Franklin Gia
FF: Higgins Hall Grant
R: Hudson Cooney Griffen
I: Cross Picken Roughead Sub: Ward

Umm yum? Best FWD + MID in the league with our DEF a top 4 (Y)

Ablett/Swallow combo would set us up for years though.

Would be better if it was seperated into two polls..aka one for developing teams/one for current.

Riewoldt/Martin v Frawley/Scully is an interesting one. Whats the general school of thought there?

I chose Riewoldt/Martin
There the sorts of players Essendon could use a kpf to be used with the likes of Gumby and Carlise. Martin as a grunt midfielder which we also could use. Also age played them ahead of Franklin/Hodge and Riewoldt/Goddard which were a close 2nd and 3rd

Franklin/Hodge and Goddard/N.Reiwolts talent outweighs the age of martin/j.reiwolt

I'd be interested to know how many clubs would trade their two chosen players for another club's two players.

Very even in my eyes.
It's basically Gun Forward (established) and gun mid (promising)
vs
Gun Defender (established) and gun mid (promising).

Would be a toss of the coin, or based specifically on needs.
For example Essondon have a lot of quality KPD prospects, but could do with a J.Riewoldt.
A team like Hawthorn however, could use a defender of Frawley's age and calibre more than they'd use a forward.

Buddy and Cyril for me.

Riewoldt/Martin definitely ahead of Frawley/Scully.

Tend to agree. Not much between Scully and Martin, not worth arguing about the difference there, and I think Riewoldt is a better forward than Frawley is a defender. Even if it they were even you would take the forward over the defender so the Richmond pair out of those 2 but I voted for Buddy and Hodge overall.

LeCras and Naitanui.

We need a third small forward who can also played as an outside midfielder.

Naitanui will be a ruck genius for years to come and his versatility means he can rest in our forward line.

Reiwoldt to true CHF. Rough to play out of the square and Buddy to roam wherever he wanted.

Goddard to come of the back flank, swapping with Burgoyne and Hodge into the middle and onto the forward flank.

I went ablett and swallow as it really just fills essendons needs but galon that is a mouth watering combo and as footy fan would love to see it shame though

Yep, I reckon the differences in where teams are up to in their development allow for some combo's other than the big names. Some of the younger pairs would be welcome additions to many sides.
