This suspension has made the Wizard Cup that much more interesting, I'll be barracking for whoever Port Power plays so that Pickett will stay out longer.

Byron Pickett is paying the price for James Begley's mistake. (fumble). His 6 week suspension is a DISGRACE!!

Despite all the Cows generated hysteria, if Begley had taken clean possession, as AFL players are expected to, Pickett's bump or tackle would have been perfectly legal.

I believe the only recourse is to, as Graham Cornes has called for years, regrettably outlaw the shirtfront. (I can't believe I'm agreeing with Graham Cornes AGAIN!?)

Finally, in playing their part in what was a tough, occasionally spiteful game, the Corporation again showed it has the players to "fly the flag"...

... The White Flag!

I'm struggling to see my keyboard as tears of compassion and sorrow stream down my face.



6 weeks is harsh - but this is more where I would like to see the tribunal going. Very severe on these sorts of acts.....more realistic and willing to put mistermeaners in context for the more incidental contact...maybe fines instead.

I watched the incident frame by frame last night and at no time did Pickett take his eyes off Begley. Even when Begley fumbled the ball, Picketts head did not move to track the ball.

6 weeks......that's the way the mop flops IMO...

seriously though - 6 weeks is way too much. 3-4 wouldve been appropriate for what was a mistake on the football field that didnt cause any serious injury. Keeping in mind Bicks got only 5 weeks for smashing wakelins face in, after he had disposed of the ball, wasnt watching... Port fans are just asking for a bit of consistency...

Get your head around this. Forget about the past. There is a new system in place as of 2005. Past cases are no longer relevant. Under your logic we would still be executing shoplifters.

i cant believe montegomery only got 1 week for a raised fore-arm/elbow on burton, & yeh, even the blood drawing "phantom elbow" on damon white got no looking into, yet pickett gets 6.

i.m.o., 4 weeks would have been closer to fair & appropriate for his actions.

HAHA dont worry dude im messing around. A suspension was on the cards, you wont get an argument from me, apart from maybe it was a little harsh. I will defend the way Byron plays the game, the bump sunday night went wrong end of story.

I just thought from a historical perspective Byron has a very good tribunal record, yet his one past suspension still counted against him.

I think the new tribunal has gotten off to a good start. Most people who looked at the new guidelines predicted Pickett would get six. And he did.
