I was quite amazed to see tonight only about 52k at the G for a game between two sides fighting to make the 8.

I was even more concerned though by the fact that where I was sitting there was probably twice as many Saints fans as Collingwood.

I know we have had a bad week however I always was proud of how Pie supporters turn out no matter what. This week, even with two exciting debuts, it was clear that there was a large amount of fans boycotting the game which to me was a pretty disappointing factor to an otherwise great night.

Cold night, the Olympics on TV and only playing St.Kilda who are a bunch of losers.

yes i think thats it, i was there and it was damn freezing tonight.

plus, i am happy to admit I am one of the Pies fans who wants to keep dids and i find it hard to fathom that we have idiots in our midst who would boycott a game in an attempt to force a trade.

I was there, and I'll be there against Sydney (cant afford interstate trip lol).

Love tonight, that was one of the best nights at the footy I have been to in a while.

I dont mind the cold, its a winter sport.

Does anybody think the powers to be will take any notice of the sign
"no didak = no membership"

I didn't see this sign but I would have loved to.

To answer the question, absolutely. This is not a Tarrant scenario where most supporters had had enough with his erratic kicking and sub-par performances.

Didak is a superstar and that message will be heard, loud and clear.

I don't know where you were sitting but I was in the AFL member's and there were easily twice as many Collingwood fans! And the Ponsford stand was Pro Collingwood! I thought that we did out Number St.Kilda quite easily actually, I'd say 35,000 Collingwood to 17,000 St.Kilda! If we had won our 3 last matches there would of been 50,000 Collingwood fans easily.

Why do you assume that anyone who "boycotted" wants Didak to be traded? They could just as easily have been boycotting due to the ban for the rest of the season.

Yes I've heard two different calls for people to abandon the game because they thought they were too harsh on Didak/Shaw/Shaw and want Didak to stay and some supporters were calling people to boycott it because they are unhappy with the handling of the situation or even because they're unhappy that Didak wasn't delisted.

And hopefully the club realises this at the end of the season. Players with skills such as Didak do put bums on seats.

Same number turned up when Didak did play the week before.

Didak is a drunk who needs to be traded as quickly as possible.

I doubt it was a boycott, more a case of many supporters being p'd off and disillusioned with the club after the ridiculous punishment to Didak and Shaw and perhaps even embarrassed to be seen supporting such a sucky club, as I would have been if I was back in Melbourne. Also they probably assumed the whole season had been thrown away by the arrogant admin, and that we would be thrashed yesterday.

the win was certainly a big surprise to me and quite stirring effort by the players under the circumstances. Nothing succeeds like success.

Boycott? As a member who goes whenever family and work commitments allow I could not attend the game last night, but it was not because of a boycott, the weather or fear of a loss. I think any supporter with half a brain would have wanted to go and watch and make a decision about how The Club dealt with this from a football pespective.

Where I was it was pretty much half and half. I was in M56 and from where I was sitting it most definately looked like a Collingwood crowd. Sounded like one too.

You are delusional

where i was sitting was clogged full of pies supporters with the odd st kilda supporters. did anyone else hear that crazy guy yelling "play on we are 6 goals down" flat out for ages. geeze that was funny.

id put the lower crowd mainly down to a colder night, first day of the olympics etc.

From the responses here it may have been that I overreacted. It wasn't so much the size of the crowd that worried me - although I expected more - but more that where I was sitting there seemed to be many more saints supporters to Collingwoods and I was being deafened by the cheers every time they kicked a goal.

I have heard some people saying that Collingwood have obviously given up hopes this season because they have dropped Heater and Didak and that they think there is no point going anymore. I just thought many people may have felt this way.

Yeah - given it was a freezing cold night and the Olympics on TV, only for a Collingwood game could the crowd be termed "only" 52k. Actually, it shows how big our usual MCG crowds are for this to be called "poor".

And there was no boycott. I sat in the wing, so halfway between the respective Collingwood (Ponsford) and StKilda (Punt Rd) ends - from the noise made, the Pie fans easily outnumbered Saints fans by more than 2 to 1.

BTW - Has anyone here got the Pies average MCG crowd size for this year? Just curious.

mate it was freezing cold, with a high chance of rain.

For the record, I was there with 3 non Collingwood supporters, i did my part!
