Hey Guys.

Herald Sun today reports that Essendon has just over 29,000 members signed up, we are 2nd on 25,500. I must admit when i read this i was pretty pissed off for two reasons, 1. i was wrong about my last comment in the other membership thread about us having 34k....(dave i dont know where you got your figures from but your obvisouly full of *&^*&).

We better overtake the dons, i wont be able to take the fact that they have more paid up members than us!!!! We have to finish on top of them and have more members, there is no two ways about it.

what do you blokes think?

Agreed! We need to be the no.1 team in Vic. It's for the good of football!!!! Ever since the Blues became wholly unsuccessful and the laughing stock of the AFL it has been all about Essendon for me. Being their better looking, more affluent, more successful Victorian cousin.

25,500 seemed like an estimate, along with the Dees we were the only team with a number that has seemed to be rounded up.

Anyway Essendon have pumped heaps of BS into the media in the off season so it is paying off for them. Conversly we have been too quiet for our liking. Every day there is an article on Essendon's new recruits, Mal Michael etc, and in turn it gets people excited and talking about it on talkback radio (SEN) and somehow they become delusional and start to rate their chances because Tony Schibecci reckons the team might go alright.

look at it this way if they get 40000 members playing at telstra dome there is only 15000 more seats, 5000 corporate that leaves 10000 paying customers compared to us playing at the g 40000 members say 10000 corporate that leaves 45000 seats for paying customers.the paying customers money goes to the home team we are far better off even if we have less members

Thoes membership numbers intodays sun were for Melbourne members, not our national membership tally. We have members in other states.

it also doesnt include AFL Club support members & we have a shyte load of them, I know cause i am one of them. We will beat them hands down, they cant compete with us when it comes to support..not even close!

ahhhh your wrong on that one...I am an AFL Member with Collingwood club support package we count towards the tally.

Except you need a reserved seat at the TD and not every single member is going to turn up every single week.

Essendon are the Dome's number one tennant. We make much more out of 45,000 at the Dome than we do at the G.

but we are the number one tennant at the g and we get a far better deal from them than the dome gives us, anyway the numbers are still stacked in our favour
