These dogs are crazy, a crazy one was chasing a while back and if i didnt jump a fence it wouldve killed me. The owners also have a role to play, but there is no reason that these beasts should be in backyards. They should breed them out IMO.

What Coughlan said. Owners are the problem not the dogs. When trained and raised well, Pitbulls are very loving, obedient, loyal and brave dogs.

I know in most cases its the owners fault, but the owners never change and the dogs turn into beasts, and they are dangerous. They still scare the shit outta me.

Its not that hard to do a test of some sort on owners before they can have dogs that can possibly be dangerous if in the wrong hands.

It is both the owners and the breed of dog. If the owners don't look after the dogs properly then the blame is with them.
The breed of dog has got problems as well. You wouldn't be able to leave that breed of dog alone with a small child.

Ban them.

Biased opinion I know, but hey my poor little kitty was savagely attacked by one of those horrid "dogs" (monsters would be the more appropriate description imo). Don't know how she survived, but she did. Only lost her leg.

Unfortunately other humans and animals aren't so lucky.

I don't know much about them but I'm scared shitless of them.

All big/aggressive dogs infact.

Same. I've had some bad experiences (see previous post).

Also remember once walking home from the shops and saw one approaching me. (No owner in sight). So I walked across the road and it crossed at exactly the same time I did. Pretty much shitting myself at this stage, so I walked into a house. Just any old house, walked right up to the front door, thinking "I will bash the door down if this thing comes after me". Anyway it stood there, just looking at me for a minute.. then walked on, thankfully.

In my eyes, people who think we should ban the so called "dangerous" breeds have the mentality of closet racists :thumbsd:. It's the same thing just a different animal.

No they shouldn't, its not the dogs, its the ********s that own them taht are the problem

Biggest crock of shit i have ever read on big footy. To suggest that its the owners fault Pit Bulls are agressive is so laughable:D:D They have been breed for one thing and one thing only, and the entire breed should be wiped out of extinction in Australia. If my 85 year old Granny got one it would still be a fuked up crazy mad mongrel. Shoot em all:thumbsd:

A pit bull chased me, and i am now scared shitless from most dogs, i didnt provoke it at all, me and my cousin were kicking the ball on the road and the beast ran after me, luckily i jumped a fence and i survived. To many people have been killed by them, i think its time for them to be bred out. If you want a good dog, just get a labrador, they are pretty much the same price and they are lovely dogs. To the people that defend them, i take it that you have one, so do some experimenting with your one and see whether they are good or bad dogs.

You werent walking in galdstone park by any chance, there are so many big and scary dogs walking around with no owners in site.

I own a dog, and I love dogs, but Pit Bulls are bred to be killers, they are not an appropriate breed for today's society. Ban then, they are unpredictable and dangerous.

The way their jaws lock onto and hold a victim is an example of a genetic modification gone too far.

Stereotyping the whole breed based on the actions of the minority. Sounds a lot like racism to me

This isn't racism though, it's specisim. Yes, such a term does exist.

While you're at it, breed out sharks too.

Thats just stupid bombergal, you just cant compare those two, sharks wont attack unless provoked and when they do attack they think you are seals, whereas those beasts attack even if they arent provoked. I got chased by one, and i didnt provoke it , so i think i would know.

I guess we should keep cane toads in Australia because they exist and they were introduced into this country?

The only reason this breed exists is because dumb arse humans bred them for one reason.

Fighting.

They should be bred out of existence because there is no need for a breed with those qualities.

Terriers don't give up.

There wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for these ferals who had a brain fade and bred this problem breed for aggression. I occasionally see the local pit bull in the park when I'm walking my dog and it isn't an aggressive dog.

Yet my dog wouldn't go anywhere near it.

And he normally bolts towards any dog he sees in the park.

He even tries to take on dogs that are out of his weight division.

But he wouldn't go near the Pit Bull.

There are plenty of good breeds if you want a large dog.

Labs and Golden retrievers are large enough and have a good temperament for kids.

There are plenty of homeless dogs at the pound if you want a good dog.

OK. But would banning the pitbull stop unsavoury/'the wrong' owners getting hold of/breeding pitbulls. Surely it would be impossible to completely wipe out the pitbull...
