I would like to see Josh Hunt play further up the ground in parts this year. He could be very damaging running off a wing kicking to a leading forward. I can see Tim Callan as the small back pocket with David Johnson/David Wocjinski playing across half back. We don't really have anybody else in the side that can get the ball have a couple of bounces and bomb a goal from outside 50 on the run. Josh could be the man.

Good call Jack. I think the new kick-in rules will allow this too as it will not be as important to have someone like Hunt kicking out when you can kick in straight away (before flags are waived) and while the opposition may not be ready.

Hunt has also showed a couple of times that he can be a designated goalkicker of sorts - whereby, someone takes a mark on or around 50 and he runs past and has a shot on the run. Either that or it could be passed laterally to him for him to have a shot from 50+.

He played on the wing in the game he had his appendix problem [about Rd20].He was our best player in the first half, but didn't return after 1/2 due to his appendix problem.

With DJ,Wojcinski,Callan and Milburn in defence, you could play Josh up the ground.

I would like to see him in a Stuart Dew type role, even closer to goals. If Dew gets the ball anywhere around 70m he is a threat i think Josh could be like that. I agree with the other posts about other defensive options that would allow Josh to be released further up the field.

In the past he wouldn't have had the engine - be interesting to see how he would go.

Did any one else go to the cricket game on Sunday? He was the star.

He looked like he had trimmed down a bit the other week at training and his kicking was perfect anywhere from 10m to 60m. Didn't kick a ball that went over 5 meters off the ground either. Has to be the best kick in the AFL.

I would think that there would be a rotation between pocket, wing and flank between him, Wojcinski & Dave Johnno if all fit.

Look for him to have a big year.

Its time for DJ to take Hunts man down back and Hunt to move up the field and test him self in the midfield.

Think Akamannis- started in the back pocket and learnt to read the game then moved to the midfield. While they are different players hunt has the ability to be one of the top burst midfielders in the comp.

Im thinking starting him on a back flank and let him rotate through middle for 10 mins or so. He could be devasting with his delivery and long kicking. reference the goal at skilled verse kangaroos with the wind.

Its time Bomber

Gee! I remember getting shot down for suggesting this a while back on this forum!
I think he would be a great attacking half back flanker who bobs up with the occaisional goal. His delivery into the forward fifty would be outstanding!

With all the options in the side its going to be interesting to watch this year what positions some players are going to keep! My first two nominations:

Mooney - Centre/ Ruck Rover
Hunt - Half Back Flank or Wing

I reckon pound for pound josh hunt would have to be the biggest axe in the competition. No wonder he can kick so far, his legs are like tree stumps. The guy is massive. He's 186cm or there abouts and weighs about 100kg. I've seen him shopping around Geelong and he is ENORMOUS.
