What do you mean we don't want Boyd? We are crying out for key forwards especially with Crameri and Gumby leaving. If we did somehow get Boyd it would be a massive win for the club!

I wouldnt be taking him i think we are in a pretty good position with the spine for many years to come with Ryder, TBC, Hurley, Carlisle and JoeD.

We always have FA to grab something key aswell like maybe a Frawley if needed. We havnt had the opportunity to grab many genuine midfielders real early in the draft for a bloody long time.

Im always apprehensive with grabbing KPP that early in the draft because i keep thinking of Hansen, Gumby, Watts ect.

Have to laugh at the North supporters ( and their list management team ) who are crying because the Saints want something decent back for NDS. And StKilda is a good trading partner - They get reasonable deals done.

Nice move not tagging me in that, didn't think you'd have the balls. My problem with people like you is that you make exaggerated and thus completely incorrect statements about the supposed lack of worth of guys like Pears, when realistically, he was consistently getting games through the back half of the season, alongside Carlisle, Hooker and Fletcher. Again, and I actually can't believe I'm repeating myself, he had very good games mixed with bad games, which is what you'd reasonably expect from a bloke who's barely strung any games together for the best part of two years due to serious injury. Again, and I can't believe I'm being forced to repeat this as well, it's difficult to get back to form immediately without consistency in selection, and my contention the whole time has been that he will be a very valuable player if he can manage to hold his body together and stay in the side. The idea that Pears has no place in our team would be comically wrong if it wasn't so boringly ignorant and frustrating: he's been playing in the ******* side, so how has he managed that you mental pigmy?

Having said that, I'd also rather lose him than Gumby, which isn't a statement on each individual player but more a reflection of where our strengths lie; as Jade proffers, Gumby is our most natural forward (perhaps JD is up there too, but that remains to be seen) whilst we have Hooker, Hurley and Carlisle, as well as Hibberd, Dempsey etc, in our defence.

Not that it's all that important to our discussion here but i would've tagged you if i knew A. That was an option B. How. Not really that scary being lambasted by an anonymous partisan on an online forum.

Despite your ludicrously defensive attitude we come to the same point. If you have to choose between getting rid of Pears or Gumbleton, for reasons of team structure (not including my added reason of individual worth) it would be Pears that would have to go. He's had his problems and I really hope he gets better and finds a place in our team and due to the room on our list from a lack of draft picks he might just get that chance but to be honest i just don't think he is needed now and can't see him being needed in the future.

The question you ask about how he was playing so many games at the end of the year in spite of his poor AFL form probably had something to do with both his decent VFL form, Fletch being out (he rarely played along side him as you state) and our desire to get some game time into a guy who has showed some promise but has lacked minutes at AFL level.

I'd like see him traded for a pick or a player that ends up with us getting a MID/FWD. That would be more valuable to the club.

Lots of Bomber Love,
the mental pigmy xxx

so another day done in the AFL trade-athon... or snoozefest..

just 5 completed FA deals and 2 trades in a very dreary start to the off season.

For all the talk of FA.. again we see very little movement from established stars.. Lance Franklin the highlight, Daisy Thomas and Eddie Betts the other notables. Matt White and Sylvia the other two.

I'd say we have a little way to go before we reach US levels.. where there can be over 300 FA deals in a two week period.

Everything is held up by the wait for the stupid compo picks.

My concern is if we trade gumby we are one injury away from not being able to field a foward line

Carlisle swings forward, Pears comes in.

You said that Gumby was leaving - Or do you retract that post.

Jesus Christ, how many times to I have to say it. He has a contract offer. He wants to leave.

Silliest thing I've read for a very long time in this thread, if we somehow gained picked two and Boyd somehow wasn't picked up by GWS we would let him slide to StKilda bwahaha

Yeah nah won't happen.

I seem to recall Damo on TWR literally demanding that north make a deal for dal within the hour at about 3.30 on day one of trade period

Yeah nah won't happen.

1) wont be available
2) wont get pick 2
3) not what i said

Id be taking a real quality midfielder that can play straight away and take over from when we lose Stanton, Watson, Goddard, Dempsey, Hocking type era

Myers, Melksham, Howlett can all play apart but we need something better than that and pick 2 with the right decision would likely give us that.

Who do you think will be around longer?

Daniher, Hurley, Carlisle, Bellchambers, Ryder

or

Stanton, Watson, Goddard, Hocking, Dempsey?
