I think if we land a Shaw/NDS type as well as Chappy then there won't be much pie for Myers next year. Shrewd work by Colin Young, but it's hindering our trading plan I imagine.

On another note, I read something yesterday about us being interested in Ricky Henderson. I'd swap 22 for him in a heartbeat.

Probably senses space in the cap and trying to convince Essendon we'd be so much better off front loading a new contract which would be stupid given he doesn't seem to keen on seeing out the length of contracts. Could also be at the end of a previously front loaded deal. Either way manager is painting himself and client in a very poor light.

The apparent interest in Myers seems to have emboldened his management to push for a pay increase. We're losing one well paid player and at this stage have not replaced him. We don't have picks next year (assuming that end of first round pick is reserved for Long's son which is probably why the AFL agreed to give it to us) and the club would have to be mindful of the Crameri situation happening all over again.

Notice that the club has not said anything that suggest he is actually available (keeping in mind that the "everyone's tradeable for the right price" is just meaningless tough talk with the knowledge that the right price is hardly, if ever, put on the table). It is just his management trying to get a larger slice of the pie.

They will come with a rush before deadline like always, when palms are sweaty and s#+t gets real.

Someone mentioned doing it the MLB way. 1 weekend, lock them all in a hotel, weekend finishes and trade period is done. It has some merit.

FFS, with the number of clubs and players in MLB if they can do it in a weekend then surely the AFL can.

I hear that. The European transfer window for soccer is open for the best part of 2 months, yet you still see ridiculous shit like UEFA allowing a 2-hour extension after the deadline for a deal to be finalised (eg Berbatov to Manchester United) Madness!
