I wasn't sure of what the outcome of the format of the playere analysis was, so I'm doing it this way.

Brett Stanton had a servicable game. He didn't break the lines like he should be and he racked up easy possesions (21 0f his 25 were uncontested) across half back, which isn't where he should be getting most of his touches. Having said that, most of his possesions were quality.

I'm sure this will improve with match fitness, but he didn't seem to be running to make himself an option after disposing of the ball. He just stopped dead after disposing of it as if his job was done. Winderlich's game was more like what I expect of Stanton in the weeks to come. Also, no tackles was a telltale sign that his fitness may not be where it should be. Needs to get to more contests.

I didn't include him in the votes, but Fletch and Lucas had amazing games so Stants was unlucky in this regard, he might have picked up one vote in other games.

mcphee

a very solid game. 20+ possessions with a dozen marks. played in both defense and attack. he looked very good (minus the hair).

looks like he is set for a big year. hopefully his confidence keeps improving and we see some of his big trademark grabs

LOL, you sound like my mum

Ryder

Looked calm in defense, did alo of good things and put in the second efforts once the ball hit the ground. Beat his man today and looks like he has a big career ahead of him.

i thought mcveigh was great today, everytime he has the ball you no its gonna be a quality possie, has become a really consistent player for us and he didnt do any undisciplined sh1t today which was a bonus.

Lucas.

Was his usual self working hard to present. Was also very intelligent working in tandem with Lloyd to exploit his matchup. Marked well. His kicking was superb despite the 4 behinds (just look how much the crows struggled with the wind all day), especially that goal in the last from outside 50m. Unbelievably handballed to assist in a goal despite marking about 20m out pretty much directly in front. B.O.G.

Lovett

Not a huge game from him but showed glimpses of his skill. Played a solid game with 18 posseions and 8 marks. Picked up easy possesions when we were kicking it around at the end of the quarters. Would like to see him break the lines a bit more. He did on a few occassions. Looking forward to a big year from him though

Jobe Watson:

He had a fairly quiet game, will need to lift as the season progresses.

Pros: He had a few really good handballs under pressure that create some opportunities.

Cons: His kicking was terrible. Turned the ball over a few times by foot. Seems to be an ongoing problem which is a bit of a worry.

Easy fixed....dont have him kick longer than 20 metres to any target.

Nathan Lovett-Murray.

what can i say very average game, for a rebounding backman with his skill it was very average. 5 kicks, 2 handballs and 6 marks is not asn impressive day out for a player of his quality

Leroy Jetta

Kicked 2 goals, set one up for Lucas and showed he was capable of taking hits from bigger blokes and get straight back up on his feet. Great debut game!

Monfries

had a solid game without being great. started well and set up alot of plays which resulted in goals. everything he does is just class. just needs to get consistant and try and get it a bit more. his target this year is should be 20 per game. at the moment sitting between the 15-18 mark.
