I'm not writing him off, he still has enough quality to make it and if he reaches his potential, he'll be a huge asset to our side. However, it terms of developing players, he has more competition for a spot than in years gone by and the pressure is definately on him.

No doubt the pressure is on, my reputation as a talent scout is on the line.;) Without blowing my own trumpet i don't get many wrong so Ricky better not let me down. If he doesnt make it it wont be through a lack of talent.

Gotta hand it to him, he sure knows how to ignite the crowd with those dashing goals from fifty.

That's one thing that has started to put doubt in my mind. He stopped doing that, he stopped backing himself in. I don't know why, but it was extremely evident in the last couple of games. Hope he fixes that, he's going to have to.

Yeah no doubt, I have a good feeling he'll find the consistency he's been missing though.

If he gets that right, he'll be the perfect midfielder! Gun player.

He needs to find out what his opponant looks like every now and then. Luckily for us most of the time its the bloke bent over in exuastion after chasing stants around the paddock for most of the game but every now and then his man really hurts us.

Yeah good point. But then that happens to the best of them at times.

I still think if he makes it it will be as a centre square on baller rather than a wingmen. All his best games have included big stints in the engine room.

I dont recall seeing him in heavy traffic all that often. My highlight of Dyson involve his runs just outside of the centre square or at half forward chipping the ball into our forwards. In saying this, Dempsey or Jetta would only have to run with the ball through the centre or down the wing and they would move above Ricky on talent alone. I really think next season will be his make or break year based on the increased talent in our personnel.

Adam Ramanauskas

If Adam didn't have his illness i would have no doubt that he would be in the topline of midfielders/running half back's in the comp. I hope he can play again one day but if not i hope atleast his up on that stand with the rest of the boys collecting another premiership.

Mark McVeigh

Mark turned into one of the premier taggers in the league and i have no doubt that he would just about be the best back pocket in the league. In saying that i also believe he could be a super dangerous forward on a flank and i hope he gets his opportunity their. Another top 10 in the b&f.

Pev - I am hoping he can play around 20 games and prove he is not past it yet with the game moving so fast, and to help mc vaigh tag and it releases the presure on him to tag every week.

Welsh - Iam expecting Welsh to play every game unless injured and to do what he does well and set up the switch of play and do a job on a small forward again. If we have a good side next year i think we will find that he will be an unsung hero.

Lovett - He could be the real difference this year along with Lloyd and Michael. He has to play well for Essendon to beat the top 4 sides. When he is playing well he lifts our whole side and can change the momentum of a game with one tackle or one freak goal. If he has a good season we will finish top 8.

I hope Peverill doesn't play 20 games because it means a lot of other young midfielders aren't doing their job. He should be on the list purely for depth, I'd have Heffernan in before him. Sure he gets the footy a bit but he pays no attention to his opponent and doesn't even use the ball very well, runs around like a headless chicken sometimes.

Bit harsh on pev there, surely his experience and hardness is very handy in a young side.

Hardness, what do all you blokes think are we hard enough, do we need a few players to intimidate oppisitions a bit more? Or with the game becoming so much faster it doesn't really matter to much anymore.

Id have Peverill over Heffernan purely for the fact that he's more prominent and presents himself at stoppages. If he can touch the leather 20-30 times a game and give off to a teammate 80% of the time, satisfies his selection.
Heff doesnt get near the thing that often to be as effective and I wouldnt imagine him putting any sort of pressure for senior selection. Peverill will no doubt get dropped throughout the season, but will figure prominently in the VFL to place pressure on our first 22...something I dont see Heff being able to do as effectively.

Pev would have to pass Jobe and JJ if he wants to play a big part at the stoppages. Heff is a better tagger and at least has a cool head when he has the ball. If we're going to have a good year both these players should play a lot of VFL.

Having both Pev and Heff on our list is excellent, i'm glad they're still around.

Whenever the ball hit the gruond last year and Heff was in the vinicinty of the contest, he'd always draw a player or two and release someone with a handball. He makes me feel confident and i'm sure Sheedy is delighted one of his Premiership players is around whilst our new era of kids are starting to come through.

Pev is always going to give you 100%. Courageous as they come. Kicking, his inital weakness, has improved since he first was given that chance all those years ago when Longy was injured.

Both are great around the club and i'm extremely glad that they're going to be there in 2007. There experience is vital, especially Heff's.
