I can understand him not wanting to change considering he has just won a premiership in that number. I'd want to keep it too.
That said, getting O'Bree's number should be taken as a huge compliment because O'bree was very highly regarded by the coaching staff and it is a massive statement about the faith they have in Blair.
Ultimately, O'Bree got the most out of himself as a player despite his limitations. Although I think Blair is a more skilled player, he also has limitations in the sense of his height and he is not the quickest player going around. So it is a good choice for him to wear.
Ultimately, it sounds as if Blair is pretty keen to form his own reputation, but either way he has a bright future and I'm glad he has a lower number. Players with a number over 40 these days are generally not regarded as top 22 material. He has now elevated himself to the senior group, and it is a right of passage for him. One he should be very proud of.
