Very lucky win. Didnt deserve it but found a way to win. Well done Melbourne .....that was a terrific effort. They took it up the middle whereas we were going around the sides. We didnt do that last wk and it was so noticeable they had us off our game. They also probably had the three best blokes on the ground (grimes, pettard, green, davey were probably all better than ours). Umps werent great but I thought both sides got some rough calls.

3 Beams
2 Thomas
1 Wellingham

Davis - Poor. Last qtr goal was good. Amazed he wasnt pushed up as our blokes were off their legs. Didnt go hard enough at times which just makes me cringe for when sept comes around.

Didak - if he fit? looked really tired and wasnt explosive. Had Grimes who was outstanding.

Maxy - V average. Did better in the last qtr but wasnt good early. His man was their link and he didnt man up and wrestle that contest back.

Meddy - Tried but was average. Couple of times the contest just wasnt good enough. Tried to be to clever by half some times. Better when leading at the footy.

Harry - Was ok after a very an ordinary start. The free kick he gave away in the second was horrific but otherwise he probably held it even with Green who at the end only kicked the 2 or 3 having had all the ball thru him and Pettard.

Anthony - really ave. Didnt even offer a contest on a couple of occassions. Out next week.

Pendles - 20 mins to get his first kcik but had a very good 2nd and 3rd. Last was average.

Ball - Tackle pressure v good and some good handballs but kick penetration wasnt good.

Thomas - Excellent. 25 touches and would hazard a guess that is his best yet. Made some mistakes but last qtr was good.

Brown - Atrocious first half. ok in the last.

Beams - Outstanding. BOG for us albeit I think Melbourne had the 3 best players. Got us going in the 2nd.

Jolly - Really ave. Free kick in the last a shocker.

Reid - OK to good. Was under pressure a few times and made good decisions.

Wellingham - Good. Kept running all day and had a fair bit of it. Made some mistakes but didnt they all. At least he kept running.

Sidebottom - Was good. Did some nice things and again was one who got us going.

Locks - I thought he was ok. Couple of goals good and did some good stuff in the back half in the last

Fraser - very average but better than Jolly. Thats about it. Is he right?

Johno - Excellent until the injury

Cloke - Average. McDonald beat him. He did have a go though

Tooves - Poor.

Swan - very average. They rotated off him, Macca, McKenzie etc. Didnt get any ball in dangerous spots.

Heater - Shocker but kept at it and reigned Pettard in during the last half.

Very generous to Cloke.

I'd describe him as useless today.

Fraser honestly needs to step aside. The guy has no body strength for a big guy, little overhead ability, is next to useless against mature bodies in the ruck, and does not have the ability below his knees and speed he once did. Offers nothing.

Beams, Pendlebury, Sidebottom and Thomas were the only ones who can really hold their heads up. Though in saying that, Thomas made a couple of bad errors near the end.

Too many passengers, not enough commitment, too many errors and everyone had the fumbles. Also, did we hit a leading forward all day? Long bomb after long bomb. Pathetic.

Agree 100% with everything.

Gee before Cloke went off with the blood rule i thought he was finally showing something. then he went back to same old shit

What happened to Didak today? Just an off day?

Did a few good things, but went missing when the physical pressure was turned up. Simply not good enough for someone of his talent and experience. Though it was contested footy all day, he was always going to struggle.

Leroy, Medhurst, Fraser and Didak were shocking today along with many other passengers.

Will see some changes next week I imagine.

I hope it's not your namesake thats one who gets the chop. Surely not?

Pendles, Beams, Reid and Sidebum were our best.

Maxwell played like he did vs geelong in the pf when an opponent makes him accountable he is shocking and burnt the ball under pressure like i have said previously.

L.Brown great aggression last week despite poor use of the footy, this week back to crap, really feel for Dawes.

Heater was spanked.

Harry o was ok.

Toovey ...

Wellingham ok.

Jolly beaten.

Fraser soft.

JA and Cloke how long do they get a free ride, if it was Dawes in performing like these 2 all and sundry would be screaming blue murder.

Team as a whole soundly beaten.

1 plus was that Reid beat his man and didn't look out of place.

Disappointing effort all round.

Dale Thomas was best for us I thought. Pendles was good but floated in and out of the game, I expected more from him. Beams was really good as was Sidebottom. Where were the experienced players? Shocking effort.

Lets move on to next week. Please?

Yeah we will but as usual it wont be any player who has performed sub par...

I bet my Balls it is Reid out Presti in, despite Reid having a good game.

Pendles led our comeback.

He needs a cup of harden the fk up!

Last week vs the dogs he was short stepping the contest as well, goes unnoticed because he kicked a few goals and we won.

geez did I miss something that
Did Cloke do something amazing to get a average rating
and this might upset a few kids here but I dont care , I thought Thomas was only average not good or excellent
the 3 youngest stood out
Beams, Sidey and Wellingham thats all rest were poor to average
MM will have them up for next week no way will he let them play like that 2 weeks in row

Cloke and Anthony are lucky to hold their spots thats all I can say.

I want Dawes to succeed but he really has to earn his spot. That said, surely he can't do any worse than cloke or anthony at this point in time? Maybe time to see what he can do?

If fraser is going to keep having little to no effect on games , id love to see Wood bought in. If we lose Wood to a gold coast or sydney or even heading back to adelaide, ill be really pissed. Wood is the future , fraser needs to be more convincing if he wants to hold that other ruck spot.

Davis - Other than the goal in the last, he was very quiet. Really needs to start stepping up in tight games.

Maxy - Got exposed a bit when not playing the spare man. Even when he did go 3rd man up, he made some really poor mistakes. Did a little better in the last.

Meddy - Didn't really seem to get many opportunities today. Did some nice things, over did some things.

Harry - Struggled a bit defensively. Still gave some decent rebound in patches.

Anthony - The delivery inside 50 was horrible (see Medhurst), but he never positioned himself well to give himself a real chance.

Pendles - Can still go up a gear or two. Good to see him getting some goals, but I would like to see more of his work around stoppages.

Ball - Horrible. His round 1 performance should be the minimum he gives us each week. If he performs like he did today, it's a wasted draft pick.

Thomas - Honestly thought he was pretty ineffectual. Busted a gut as usual, but lacks seems to lack polish/ruin his good work with silly mistakes.

Brown - Struggled along with Cloke and Anthony. Felt so crowded up forward with Medhurst also a marking option.

Beams - BOG for me too. Got plenty of it and used it well. Got his goal a game too.

Jolly - A repeat of round 1, just with a few less free kicks. Really hoping this won't continue. Beaten in the ruck and around the ground.

Reid - Didn't have much to do, but he defended well and was spot on with his kicking.

Wellingham - Our second best for mine. Got recorded as 62% disposal efficiency but I thought he used it pretty well, was comfortable with the ball in his hands. Firmly entrenched in our 22 now.

Sidebottom - Ran hard all day and did some nice things. Struggled a bit in a few 1 on 1 contests. Far from our worst.

Locks - Solid. Really did what we expect from him.

Fraser - Poor with Jolly. Offered nothing around the ground and was monstered when it was his turn to ruck.

Johno - Was playing well until injured. Very unlucky.

Cloke - Got beaten by Joel McDonald, an undersized KPD if ever there was one.

Tooves - Another defender who played well below par. Back to the old Tooves without the great defending.

Swan - Got plenty of attention and struggled big time. Today was your answered to why he's not seen to be a "star" of the comp.

Heater - Horrible game by Heater. Got ripped apart and didn't offer much offensively.

Our forwardline didn't function at all, it always seemed crowded and the long bombs in time and time again didn't help.
The midfield got smashed by a pretty ordinary opposition. Couldn't win a clean clearance for the life of them. And seemed a little slow on the rebound.

Amazing that we even got away with a win after writing such a negative review.

Davis must have got some major credit from the Champion Data statisticians for kicking the winning goal and laying some crucial tackles (the CDPR is heavily weighted towards influence of possessions and play, rather than simple stat accumulation), because he went missing for long periods today.

Squib.
Other blokes weren't winning the ball for him today. Avoided contests and tackling pressure is bordering on non existent.

His squbbing of the contest directly cost us three goals last week. Thankfully he also kicked four himself to somewhat make up for it. Not sure how many (if any) it cost us today, but his lack of hardness, hesistation and pack-skirting didn't help much.

I agree with most of the player ratings.

Have to add that MM's performance was poor today, got outcoached by Bailey. Allowed the Melbourne players too much leeway using the corridor, and not varying his gameplan at ANY stage during the game when the boundary game wasn't working.
