How bout the 12.5m price tag you have on Reina mate

Probably a minimum of 6 more years at world class level I would be very disappointed if we got under 20m for him(not that I expect him to leave).

If he left he would go back to La Liga and La Liga ONLY and given how complete and utterly broke that entire league is (very understimated point all round really) no club is simply going to be able to afford any more than that.

Man United id have

Van Der Sar - No value

Rafael - 18 mill (young, brazillian, relatively cheap, marketers dream, good package)
Vidic - 32 mill (best CB in the world)
Ferdinand - 12 mill (back problems lower his value ALOT)
Evra - 20 mil (would be well sort after, Real Madrid would go gaga if he was available)

Nani - 28 mill (young superstar in the making, marketers dream, good package)
Anderson - 12 mill
Fletcher - 10 mill (would only make a downwards move hence lower value)
Valencia - 18 mill (low wages helps his fee)

Berbatov - 20 mill (Germany bound if any which helps his fee alot)
Rooney - 40 mill (10 mill for who he is, 5 mill for English factor, 25 mill for talent)

So much "lulz" @ marketers dream and "___ for talent"

kaka is understandable, but rafael is not.

Cos hes a right back or what? Even a bloke like John Aloisi was at one stage the highest paid athlete in Australia. Was paid 200k a year for his talent and 1 mill a year for his marketability/name value. If it matters in a piss poor league like the A-League what kind of value do you think it holds in the richest leagues in the world?

If you think hes just not good enough well then watch closer.

I think Woodgate is out of contract at the end of the year EW.

Gomes at about 10 mill is right. Hes a keeper not a superstar

Kaboul wouldnt be worth 16 mill because his next move is currently IMO a sideways move back to a top line French club (Marseille, St Germain etc). If he was worth 16 mill he would creating interest among the likes of Real Madrid etc but hes not in that fied

You guys significantly overpaid for Modric when you got him, hence why you actually ended up getting him. Otherwise he was off to a Barcelona type club for a lower fee/wages. Itd be ideal to be able to throw in that excess spent into his future fee but its not gonna happen. David Silva was worth 28 mill and Modric is in a similar state albeit worth a tad more.

Huddlestone is injury prone and while a good player hes another likely to make a sideways move (to say a Man City/Arsenal... I know Arsenal are bigger but not in a transfer/financial sense they are not). The one out of these id add value onto if he can stay injury free and provide some more consistency in his game

Bales a hard one to gauge. The reason I think hes worth 30 mill is because when/if he does leave its going to be a Torres moment. One where he goes on strike and demands to leave hence lowering the overall fee. His lack of marketability also hurts his value. Juventus fans arnt lining up to buy Bale shirts is all ill say

Lennon is poorer than Young whose worth about 18 mill. Overrated now and im saying that as one of his biggest fans

Kranjcar is worth 5 mill because hes making a downwards move to a 6-10 club outside the EPL. Hes stated many a time he is unhappy and wants to leave too. Hes not wanted, not needed and not moving up so his fee is low

If Bentley was worth 10 mill he would not be out on loan to another EPL club atm. His only transfer window is in the EPL. No La Liga club etc are gonna be buying him. If Birmingham wouldnt pay 8 mill for a much better player in NZogbia, why would they pay more for a unwanted nobody like Bentley?

Embers is wrong.

I'll try and remember this thread when Summer (or winter whatever side of the world you live) rolls round.

It's f**** rafael, stop acting like he is a big name.

To be fair to him he's only 20.

In 5 years time who knows how marketable he'll be? Might be the biggest name in Brazil, no-one knows.

Still, Embers probably should've put 'potential marketers dream' or something.

(and I don't agree with his valuation btw, I'd have him currently at about 10m)

Nice counter argument

Well we arent going to agree are we. Your arguements seem to be based around the global recession (when football appears to live outside these constraints).

Your other arguements dont add up either. If we sold Kaboul for example to the French league for £9m , then where would we get a player of similar quaity for the same amount? The answer is we wouldnt so therefore we wouldnt sell him at the price.

I guaruntee you now Krancjar will go for substantially more than £5m. If Bale or Modric go, then they will also go for more than you reckon. Some clubs are still fully stacked with cash as the last window showed.

I'm not sure you understand the difference between market value and sale price.

This.

Also here you go Corrison

Scencszy - 6 mill - Youngster on bugger all wages equates to a high fee

Sagna - 20 mill - One of the best RB in the world. Underselling him at 15
Vermaelen - 10 mill - Solely due to injury problems atm
Djourou - 9 mill - Undersold him a bit
Clichy - 12 mill - One way LB are loved the world over nowadays

Song - 12 mill - Great player but a dime a dozen in todays game.
Cesc - 35 mill - 5 mill for the brand that is his name, 30 mill for the talent. To say hes worth 70 or in the same class as Cristiano Ronaldo is ludicrious.
Wilshere - 20 mill - Sounds about right. Hes English and about to be a huge name in the national team
Nasri - 15 mill - Only really had 1 super season and thats this one. Would really suit Spanish football I feel so maybe could be pushed to 20.
Walcott - 18 mill - Pretty much spot on. Pace is a big key for him so his worth will dimish from here on in id say

RVP - 30 mill - In todays overpriced strikers market he is sadly worth this much. Should be closer to 20 because of iniury proneness but he people are desperate today

Well this is the arguement I seem to be having with Embers.

Sale price is irrelevant IMO. Im sure McDonalds would prefer to sell a Big Mac Meal for 25 bucks as opposed to the 7.85 they normally charge but in the real world economic factors like demand/supply are important

GK arnt worth much because you only need 1 good one hence lower demand hence why they are purchased at lower prices. The end

I do, and the answer is not very. He doesn't have any desirable attributes for someone you'd base a marketing campaign around. Oh maybe it is his curly hair heheh, gtfoh.

Since when are any average-good young right backs marketers dream? You know full well he won't be the biggest name in brazil. If he is a marketers dream you may aswell say every player in the competition aged 20 years old is.

How can you ignore sale price though when you have bilionaires throwing silly money at the game?

This is the window tht has just seen £35m for Caroll and £50m for Torres. I know you cant factor it solely on that, but you have to give it some consideration which you appear not to be.

We have 3 billionaires throwing silly money around. They are the exceptions as opposed to the norm really.

What some people don't understand is that market value is simply not what the buyers are willing to pay.

Come on now you commerce students, what does a market consist of?
