Wilshere and Walcott worth more than Nasri??

They are younger, English, lower wages, more versatile etc etc. More strings to that bow than the Nasri one im afraid. Nasri is by far the better player atm but it doesnt mean hes more valuable

EDIT : In fairness I said hes probably worth 20 mill if a La Liga club ever came into the mix but that I doubt.

How can you ignore sale price though when you have bilionaires throwing silly money at the game?

This is the window tht has just seen £35m for Caroll and £50m for Torres. I know you cant factor it solely on that, but you have to give it some consideration which you appear not to be.

because that isn't their value.

If we are basing things off Torres and Caroll than Modric is worth 45m but the reality is he isn't.

Oh and I didn't mention Kranjcar earlier because I have stated numerous times that Embers is undervaluing him. My memory though tells me that Embers said he was worth 2.5m not long ago.

What some people don't understand is that market value is simply not what the buyers are willing to pay.

Come on now you commerce students, what does a market consist of?

rdub, I'd never thought 'd say this, but for once you are the voice of reason ;)

Seeing as nasri has played well for us in dm,cm and on the wing I think he is a little more versatile and has a little more "strings to his bow" than theo. Keep your nasri hate going though :thumbsu:

I give up. There's no getting through....

.

Yes I did but that was based on the notion he had asked for a transfer. If he doesnt ask for a transfer given the position hes in id say it pretty much doubles his value.

Fact is when benchwarmers hand in transfer request there overall value plummets.

Cesc - 35 mill - 5 mill for the brand that is his name, 30 mill for the talent. To say hes worth 70 or in the same class as Cristiano Ronaldo is ludicrious.

40 to 50 million pounds for Fab as he's young and has re-sale value.

Would be disappointed with anything less than that if I were an Arsenal supporter.

Niko did ask to leave though. I'd say the fact that he has been playing and scored 2 winners in a week have more to do with his increase in your value.

But it's also not solely what the sellers want to receive ;).

Exactly, so people need to stop assuming market value is derived solely upon what buyers are willing to pay, it is a transaction that consists of a buyer and seller.

Also there is intrinsic value that isn't really looked at here.

Market is defined as a conceptual place where the forces of demand and supply regulate price I thought. The actual business definition only identifies the consumer aswell so technically in the commerce ideal definition of a true market the buyer is the variable that sets the price

He said he would be open to a move. Its a bit different to a Torres like stunt. If he demanded a transfer/walked out on the club like that was being reported well obviously that makes a difference.

I said he was worth 5 mill before last week btw. Im not that reactionary to judge a mans value based on 2 weeks of football. I wont even judge Nasri value based on 6 months of football ffs

Remember, market values not asking prices. Two completely different valuations.

I said what does a market consist of, not what is a market.

You're completely wrong btw.

No he requested to leave. He just isn't a massive sook like Torres and his wife is pregnant I believe so he wasn't pushing it through.

He's worth 7.5 easily and I'm sure Liverpool will offer around that mark come June.

IMO Liverpool would offer that much but thats because of there situation as opposed to what his overall value. Liverpool will overpay for any player they buy in the near future especially for players within the league and challenging you for CL honors. I think you would choose not to sell even at that ridiculous price. Why strengthen the competition for?

IMO for the next window I dont view Liverpool any different to Manchester City when a team is negotiating a transfer fee. They are desperate and are one of few clubs in the world you will eek extra money out of

Considering I said many a time in January I think hes off to the Bundesliga (and still do btw) I think 5 mill is reasonable IF he honors his contract and stays committed like he ended up doing after the close of the transfer window.

OMG what don't you understand? You can't derive market value without a seller.

How do you think a stock market works? When you type in an asx code it gives you the market value, how do you think that market value is derived? Is it just what buyers are willing to pay?

Its derived by a bid from the buyer and a offer from a seller. What you will find is more than 80% of the time the market value will be set by the lowest bid from a buyer. Its just the way the market works.

Technically the market value of a share is set at the lowest share price purchase from the last buyer.

I don't know what you are arguing though. Are you trying to say because 2 days of a transfer window went crazy that all players prices increase?

What do you value Suarez at? How about Carroll?

Carroll around £20-£25m, Suarez prob the same. Torres price was obviously on 2009 form, so Chelsea took a gamble, but billionairres can afford to. Carroll was, I dont know appeasement, statment of intent. Either way, they grossly overpaid.

I actually put Bales market value at £40m. Depending on who gets involved, we could end up getting £50 or £60m for him if he left. He is hot properry if you hadnt noticed already.

Lets take Krancjar as an example again. His recent perfomnces 4 Croatia mean that he is above the £5m Embers has stated. His record in the premiership means he is worth a couple of more million. Then I boost his market value by taking into account we are talking about Harry and Levy doing the selling here. That's worth another two million. The fact that he cant get into a spurs midfield packed with talent also does not harm his market value. £10m.

You have to be a little bit savvy when you do this.

I cant remember the last time I looked at my share prices and the market value wasnt set at the lowest bid on the table

Oh hai :)

So if I had 3 houses on the same street, I go back and forth between two of them but have rarely walked inside the 3rd one. You as the buyer know this as a fact. I dont use the 3rd house that much if ever and dont really need it. That mindset wouldnt change your thoughts on the bidding process whatsoever?

Then because his first name starts with N, add 2m to his value, he has an accent in the spelling of his surname, which adds 3m. He has dark hair as opposed to blonde, add in 1m.
