Hello Richmond faithful,

I thought I would give it a go posting a thread.

Back in the 70's as a kid I went to my first Richmond game at the Lakeside Oval. That day one of our half forwards starred kicking a bag full of goals. As a result I wore number 11 on my back for the rest of the 70's. That player was of course Bruce Monteath, All Australian, Michael Roach medallist and our last premiership captain.

So who's number did / do you wear and what makes you choose that player's number.

I wore Disco Roach's No.8 on both my Richmond jumper and dufflecoat. He took screamers and kicked bags, that's why.

A couple of years later I got an Esso training top and put No.17 on it because Maurice Rioli was a genius.

I would have to agree 2 quality players. Disco was a goal kicking machine and had that X factor. Maurice Rioli probably the greatest player I have seen in yellow and black. Saw us player the Demons (not sure what year) and it was a clash between Mr Magic and Robbie Flower for BOG.

Richo as a kid, and then recently #17 as I figured it would always be a number in use and wont be that guy with a vacant number on and it'll be the skip... cheers Trent.

Barry Rowlings, #22. The jumpers at my junior club where numbered 1 to 22, with 1 the smallest and 22 the biggest. It was just practical for me to take the biggest jumper in the bag, playing in a team of short people that started on the durries before they had pubes.

Dragasevic would have been gun if it was not for injuries
