Playstation 2 users?

does anyone here know any tricks to play dvds while playstation 2 is hooked up to a video...in the manual it says the picture will scramble if its hooked up via a video recorder? how does one record dvds onto video while watching it on psx2?

and can back up/copied games be played on playstation 2..does it need a chip like on the orig playstation..or are there any devices that do the job..any websites you can recommend that tell all about gettin the most out of psx 2
