Ok, I'm not going to swear, I've obsorbed our loss and now I'm clear headed.

I've read loads of posts on how much of an option Newton is up forward and in the ruck and I thought to myself was I more into the $6:40 carlton draught beers than I thought and then I checked my change.

The stats:

Kicks: 3

Handballs: 1

Hitouts: 2

Tackles 1

Please DO NOT TELL ME HE WAS AN OPTION! HE IS A SPUD, MILLER WOULD FLOG HIM EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK. PLEASE FELLOW MELBOURNE SUPPORTERS SHOW ME THE STATS TO PROVE ME WRONG.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW HE IS STILL PLAYING AFL FOOTBALL.

You can't just expect a tall, especially one who has spent most of his football life in the VFL, to come in and play well in his first week back at AFL level. He needs to get some continiuty playing at the highest level in order to succeed, and as such, I'd leave him there for the next 3-4 weeks at least.

That way, he'll get a good opportunity to prove himself, and if it doesn't work out, then we can part ways.

So a player who was drafted in 2004 and spent most of his life in the vfl should be given another game. Are you kidding me. MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB DELISTED HIM AT THE DANGER OF LOOSING HIM TO ANOTHER CLUB AND YET IS STILL AT MELBOURNE. He is a dud, seriously major dud! Show me otherwise and don't just say he's better than Miller because he's not!

Where did I say he was better than Miller?

He played very well in the VFL last season, got 29 touches and 4 goals for Casey last week and certainly deserved his spot in the side today. Further to this, the only time in which he has looked good at AFL level was when he was afforded an extended run in the seniors, as opposed to the 1-2 week stints he is normally given.

Last week many on this board were calling for Bailey's head, and somehow, I doubt that will be the case leading up to the Adelaide match. He got another opportunity this week just as Juice should get one next week.

Give him some time in the side before making a final assessment.

Brad Miller
128 games
81 goals

Michael Newton
22 games
30 goals

I'll take the bloke that averages at least a goal a game thanks.

:thumbsu:

Take him and in another 6 years you'll get another 22 games out of him and 30 goals. Do you not see that he has been on our list for 6 years and averages 5 games a year. You take him and mark my words he will be delisted at the end of the year!:thumbsu:

yeah newton didn't do much today, but at least didn't make any shocking errors or didn't chase when he should have, which is what we normally get stuck into him for. Took the mark and kicked a goal when he should have, and provided some relief for Jamar, including a nice tap out to Davey i think in the last quarter.

So Newton's been on the list for so long, Miller has too and hasn't done much better. At the moment I'd rather see Newton in there than Miller.

How much more time does he need- 6 years is long enough he failed today and his stats show it!

Give him the free ride Miller has received over the years and you'll get better results.

So he's had a tap and kicked a goal! Listen to yourself man! Miller has played 100 more games and has played some of his games in the backline. I don't understand this line of thinking, there is no argument, Newton is <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Miller fact!

6 years is enough. he has been earning a salary for less than 5 games a year on average. give him the free ride HE HAS! IS 6 YEARS LONG ENOUGH

Face it Mr Miller your son should never play a game again. We are a 10 goal better side without him.
Newton didn't do a lot, but we only went down by a point so he deserves another chance, but he could be replaced by Spencer or Martin because we don't have a second ruckman, but I think we shouldn't cos having 2 ruckman is wasting bench rotations. Jamar proved that you only need 1 ruckman after he destroyed the saviour Jolly and the worst No1 draft pick in Fraser.

Newton is going to have to do better than that to keep his spot, but you can't have a go at his 6 years while backing up Miller whose had 9. Enjoy watching your son at Casey.

Instead of saying "What did he do" a better question is "what did he do that was wrong or pathetic"..... Miller is a bigger liability.

Two threads tonight on this?

If going by pure goals then Newton has the luxury of not spending a portion of his career at CHB - either way it's an embarrasing thread. Miller Out, Newton In was completely inconsequential today. Perhaps Newton does a better job of getting out of the way of the other forwards than Miller but apart from that there's nothing in it.

If either are still on the list next year then I'll be surprised.

Shut up.

You need to give players weeks to settle in their spot and feel comfortable. Its not like you guys will play finals anyway, so give him a month and see if he has it or not. No point dropping him till he kicks a few in the VFL and bringing him back just to drop him straight away.

As frustrating as it can be, give him a month playing up forward and see if you can see any signs. Just stupidity on your behalf expecting him to kick 3 or 4 straight away.
