THIS time a year ago, Ben Nason was basking in the glow of an AFL debut season that had exceeded most expectations.

The pocket-sized man had been a low draft selection by Richmond, plucked from the relative obscurity of SANFL club Central Districts's reserves, but had an immediate impact, playing 19 games, finishing third in the Tigers's goalkicking and equal 12th in the best and fairest.

he had trouble breaking into the seniors this year. but has some good attributes that he can build apon. if we dont rookie him one of the SA clubs will. he can break the lines with his pace.

His running capacity is good but for such a lightweight he posseses no line breaking ability at afl level and very much lacks pace for his size no way should he b re rookied.

Agree with this. Did ok in his first year, but lacks the necessary tools to take it to another level, which he needed to. Just not up to it, due his lack of size and no real pace nor even a ball-winning capacity.
Nahas shows that you can be small, but have pace and ball-winning ability, but Nason didn't show any of this.

I think you can say that about a number of delistings from other teams as well
looks like there is a bit of talent coming off lists
Joel Houghton, Xavier Clarke (for the 15mins in his life that he hasn't been injured), Brad Dick, Michael Coad, Rick Ladson, Clayton Hinkley, Wonaeamirri, Ben Ross

Absolutely, I guess clubs are gearing up for next year's draft and free agency etc. Surprised Joel the Goal got the chop from Freo.

I just wonder how many had Nason , after his first season , ranked below Nahas , Webberly and White this time last year, I think it would be more than fair to say that Nahas has had worst seasons than Nasons 2011 season ?
If he gets to a WA club where their home games are alot more suited to those who have extreme aerobic abilities he'll be a very good player , is it further reason why the fixture should be out before trade week ?
The type of player who enjoys playing at Eithad is quite different to those who enjoy MCG ?
Some are just shit house, others are beauties, no matter where you play , but some fringe type players need things going there way!

Its why St Kilda has never worried about having a lack of pace.

Nason has one of the nicer kicks on his wrong side we've had in the last few years, but just couldn't get enough of it and too slight. I'd like to see him get another shot, somewhere.
