It took a good 2-3 minutes to review, that immediately tells you it isn’t conclusive, hence why umpires call should stand. In the end they probably looked at the way Sam reacted to help make their final decision which is laughable. But dontchaknow we're favoured by the umps?
The whole umpiring system is a step below amateur if that's possible. It's pathetic. Basically just guesswork and for a supposedly professional organisation like the AFL, how it's tolerated is beyond me.
It is a bit worrying that a smaller and slower Silvagni (who is an underrated footballer) was able to dominate him physically. Is the Naughton dilemma down to strength and fitness? He had glandular fever over Christmas from memory, then had calf issues, it’s possible he’s still playing a bit of catch up.
I struggle to see how he could lose so much competitiveness without reason. Last night was an abberation. Is the Naughton dilemma down to strength and fitness? He had glandular fever over Christmas from memory, then had calf issues, it’s possible he’s still playing a bit of catch up.

The frustrating thing, is the umpire didn’t actually call for the review which is usually when the longer reviews happen. I always thought that whilst all goals were reviewed, if the umpire doesn’t actually call for it, then a call needs to be made before the ball returns to the middle and is bounced - as in, they don’t extend that time out unless the goal umpire calls for it.It took a good 2-3 minutes to review, that immediately tells you it isn’t conclusive, hence why umpires call should stand. It’s like he discovers how to play football in the second halfSanders second half![]()
Got a bit more physical in the last quarter. Doesn’t take much I know. The Tim English experience this year for me has been that if I see him in a marking contest or helping out in defence I assume he’s not going to positively impact it
I didn’t feel that during Q4 last night. He ran out the game okay. Also looked dynamic at ground level in a couple of crucial centre clearances.
He’s frustrating as hell to me but I don’t consider him a worry.
Same with Aaron. Got embarrassed.
But I actually have a lot of faith in both of their resolve to impact despite struggling and to turn their form around
I call him SurgeThought we were cooked for a while there.
Praise be the junior Doc.
Or he was moved off the mismatch with Saad. It’s like he discovers how to play football in the second half
and the smothered kick in the last was the last straw for me, i completely lost itHad no issue with his ruck work.
My issue was the softness. trying to collect a ground ball down back and being bowled over by Francis Evans, and countless times going for a mark and the ball spilling through his hands.
He wasn’t on Saad in Rd 1 or 2Or he was moved off the mismatch with Saad.
That was a reversal on "gut feel" which you can't doAm I right in saying there wasn’t a clear angle that showed Darcy’s goal being touched? ‘Appears to have touched by the Carlton player’ is not good enough.
It’s pretty impressive to go from having the same 3-4 older blokes in the middle the whole game to having a wide rotation within about 18 months.I have little doubt we are running out games well not just due to a good summer, but more because we run like endless variety through the guts. 2016 like in that regard.
Ed Libba Freijah
Kennedy Sanders Harmes
West
All in different combinations
We simply can’t go back to Libba/Bont/Treloar for the majority of CBA’s once they return. It’s pretty impressive to go from having the same 3-4 older blokes in the middle the whole game to having a wide rotation within about 18 months.
I saw our midfield heading over a cliff but it’s pretty strong again, even without Dunkley, Smith, Macrae, Treloar and Bont in it (thankfully with the last two to return).
I thought Tom was pretty good around the contest.im not sure he played as badly as many on here are making out. He got up and down the ground and created contests. Yes he didn’t have a great game but by the comments you would think he had a stinker - he didn’t!Wow Timmy had 34 hitouts to TDK's 28. It didn't look like that to me.
Anyone have HO to advantage stats ?
Oliver G
For what it’s worth I don’t think we will. I’m sure Libba, Bont and Kennedy will all get some time forward etc.We simply can’t go back to Libba/Bont/Treloar for the majority of CBA’s once they return.
