NOTE: I'm not swearing - this is the actual name of the village. It's pronounced 'fooking'.

Perhaps it should become a sister city with the town of Condom in France.

The first Australian shots (potentially of all allied forces) of World War 1 and 2 were fired from Fort Nepean (Port Phillip Bay heads).
On a side note it as an amazing place to visit and still very much intact.

Australia had a walk on role in the US Civil War too, with the ship CSS Shenandoah docking at Williamstown in 1865. When the Shenandoah finally surrendered, forty two Australians (according to wiki) were found on board having joined the ship during it's time in Melbourne.

Actually I was thinking of the word cwm - as in the mountaineering term.

Welsh word for valley. Pobol y Cwm (People in the Valley), is a Welsh language soap opera, and is the longest running BBC produced soap, having been going since 1974.

Being a Scrabble player doubtlessly you'll know that qi is the only word that doesn't require a u after the q.

Churchill had plans drawn up for "Operation Unthinkable", an attack by the Western Allies on the Soviet Union, to take place immediately following Germany's surrender.

It was abandoned after his chiefs reported they couldn't support the plan and its "fanciful" chances of success. Despite the loss of over 12 million men, Soviet ground forces in Europe still outnumbered Western Allies 3 to 1.
