The guy who played Random Task in Austin Powers has had a chequered career:

random-task.jpg

- He fought in UFC 4, these were the days when groin shots were allowed. He copped about 5 or 6 full punches to the balls from opponent Keith Hackney, nut shots were banned subsequent to this.

- He finished up 0-4 in his MMA career, he has a loss by submission "due to terror", I have no idea what happened there, I guess he got scared)

- He ended up being convicted of rape in the 2000s, the details of the crime were pretty horrific, he was sentenced to 7 years to life (whatever that means

- When in jail he killed his cellmate and was convicted of manslaughter and got 27 years to life

- Don't expect to see him in any future Austin Powers movies

Did he kill his cellmate because he got sick of him saying "Honestly, who throws a shoe?" and laughing at him

Either that or he was getting teased for being punched in the dick.

This is him walking out for his UFC fight, I believe he had no martial arts background so he invented "Josondo", he also carried a person size crucifix for some reason.

Pretty sad that Random Task was his career highlight then

Ohhhhh, I never realised he was Joe-son!

We was also involved with Kimo in those early days too, who used to do the cross entry thingy. One of his entourage at any rate.

I was always surprised WWE never used that nutshot finish, given the amount of times they have someone work a nutshot gimmick with a feud that involve a no-DQ match.
On that note, I always thought the WWE should've screen-played the whole Ortiz/Liddell/Couture saga into a worked feud.

I have all those early UFC PPV's on my media server. Man they were wild!

Absolutely, he walked out with Kimo for that UFC 3 fight. Kimo was only a street fighter but he gave Royce Gracie all he could handle that's for sure.

It's funny how a lot of MMA fans hang shit on wrestling, the links to the two are very close. And Sakuraba certainly proved how legit a pro wrestling background can be (well catch wrestling I guess but still)

I remember that fight, the other guy was like how do I get out of this position I am in, saw the groin and went well yeah that's my escape.

Brutal

Channel 4 turns forty today, it was intended to be the high brow channel in the UK when first broadcast so imagine my surprise when I saw that on it's first night in 1982 at 2030hrs they were showing The Paul Hogan Show.

And Countdown is still going strong 40 years later (on a side note, I wish we'd have a proper local version again, rather than just celebrity versions)

Same.

The celebrity version just seems like a poor version of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

In another piece of pointless trivia my old housemate's sister bought Carol Vorderman's house in Maidenhead.

Heavyset professional wrasslers of yesteryear (think Dusty Rhodes size and era) when preparing for their match would extend three fingers and proceed to wrap toilet paper around them, creating a kind of pad or wad. They would then place the pad of toilet paper betwixt their buttocks before putting on their wrestling trunks. This was done apparently to manage the bum woo problem, and the pad of toilet paper was referred to as their "muffler".

In the inner suburbs of Melbourne, one will also find the suburbs of North Melbourne, South Melbourne, West Melbourne and East Melbourne. It is the same in Perth, where one will find suburbs of North Perth, South Perth, West Perth and East Perth.

So what of the other capital cities around Australia? Well, as it turns out only Melbourne and Perth boast a full set of 'direction' suburbs for their capital.

In Sydney, there is North Sydney but (sorry Rabbitohs fans) no South Sydney, however there was a municipality of South Sydney which in 2004 was merged with the City of Sydney. There are no suburbs of West Sydney or East Sydney.

Like Sydney, in Adelaide there is a North Adelaide, but never a South Adelaide at any stage (despite a South Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL). Many years ago there was a West Adelaide and an East Adelaide, but they were renamed Mile End and St Peters respectively.

Brisbane has suburbs of East Brisbane and South Brisbane, but no North Brisbane nor West Brisbane, however there is an inner western suburb of Brisbane called West End.

What of the smaller capitals of Tasmania, Northern Territory or the ACT? Neither Darwin nor Canberra have a suburb with a preceding compass direction such as North Darwin or East Canberra, while Hobart has a North Hobart, a South Hobart and a West Hobart, but East Hobart is missing.

An interesting case is Geelong, where one will find North Geelong, South Geelong and East Geelong. However for Geelong's inner-western suburbs it is an inverse, with this suburb named Geelong West rather than West Geelong.
