Polak for nothing

RICHMOND believes it has effectively picked up exciting prospect Graham Polak for nothing after still getting the player it wanted at Saturday’s AFL national draft.
The Tigers traded first-round draft picks with Fremantle — No.8 for No.13 — as part of a deal to secure ex-Docker Polak during trade week last month.
But the Tigers’ original draft target, Tasmanian forward Jack Riewoldt, still fell to the club at No.13 on Saturday, leaving Richmond officials thrilled with their horse-trading.
“Jack would have been our choice at No.8.
“To get Polak through the trade and still pick up Jack is amazing. We were rapt about that.”

If jack was always going to be then we have achieved more then we set out to do now that has to be a good result in anyones books.

every single club says that, u cant take any of them seriously yunless they actually announce before the draft who they want to take.

Good thing you got him for nothing, coz that's how many games he'll play for you.

He will play alot more games then you will ever play. So instead of sitting on ur arse making comments about him. How about you work on ur own game.

so you dont want to mention the 3rd round draft pick and also the 300k for 3 years?

It might be true ( at least as far as 1st round picks go ), but you just know they would have said that whoever they got, so credibility is lacking.

That is where you are incorrect. RFC had a 'Draft night' where members were allowed to attend as Miller and co. went through the players we were looking at and were targeting for each of our picks for the draft. Obviously I didn't go, but I've read it here and on PRE (;) first time I've been there in ages) and thats what happened...Jack was on their minds the whole time, maybe it was a good thing we traded #8...look at the reactions from some on here about us picking Jack with #13, what if we did it with #8

Our 3rd rounder probably would have landed us Daniel Connors anyway...

Can you atleast tell us which of Reid, Armitage, Everitt, Brown or Frawley we would have been 100% sure of taking at 8.

as someone else reminded us browny said on the gospel weeks ago that reiwoldt would be a tiger next year (they thought he meant nick but now it is obvious that is not who he was talking about). kind of points to the fact that we had him in our sights all along.

There is too much evidence for it to be a little spin. Before the draft Brown said it. On draft night, GM and FJ said it, and after the draft TW said it.

I would be suspicious of spin if only TW said it after the draft, but it is hard to ignore the other instances beforehand.
