polak hit by a tram

Shocking news, I'm so upset at the moment.

Also, who gives a F%ck if he was drunk or whatever, he bloody got hit by a Tram and is in a serious condition!!!

Hope you get well Polak!

Seriously mate the media are a flipping disgrace. This sort of stuff happens and they have to bring up garbage like "alcohol may have played a part."
They are parasites and will do anything to sell papers. Makes me sick.

Leave this kid alone, give his family some privacy and I am sure he will be back in the Tiger jumper again very soon.

Just watching some highlights of the match... it's sad watching him set up a bunch of goals knowing he may never play again :(

Set up Richo's best goal in years.

I know the feeling I did the same today too. I am not thinking about him playing football again, but I can tell you if he can get back to it, there is NOTHING that would stop me from even walking to Melbourne to see it.

Saying that, him playing football is the last thing on my mind. If he does not play football again so be it, as long as he recovers and lives a full and happy life that would be the biggest reward for me.

He has been a mighty servant for the tigers for the last couple of years, his health is the main thing I want to improve right now.

Even with all the banter and trash talk between us, i hope for Polak and RFC sake that he is ok, and next year will pull on the RFC jumper again.

Good luck and good health!!
Thanks for your words champ, We are enemies anytime except for now ;)

grats on your win yesterday :thumbsu:

Really hope he is alright was starting to find his feet at afl level, In saying this its a game and even though it would be dissapointing to not see him play again the most important thing is that he makes a full recovery. Best of luck to Graham and to all his family.

Boys,I'm really worried about him.

At first i thought it was a media beatup and treated it as just that.

I'm a pessimistic ____ but from what ive read i cant help but
feel sick to the stomach....

"Ambulance officers had to work on the unconscious Polak, and were forced to insert a tube to assist his breathing, before he was rushed to hospital.

Club doctor Greg Hickey said Polak had been moving his limbs, but it was too early to say whether there was any long-term brain damage.

"Probably the hardest thing to gauge at this stage is more his intellectual recovery, whether he will regain that - time will tell,'' he said."

We need to win for this kid !

Agreed Oxx, it is a worrying time, Hopefully we get the best possible outcome and see him on the field wearing the yellow and black as soon as possible.

The boys better come out against west coast with Polak in their hearts. The West Coast match has become much more than just 4 points.

Yep. How tight are the group? We'll see in 2 weeks.

From the Sun:

It is believed Polak's head struck a tram window and then struck the ground as he fell.

Sheesh, I have some pretty bad memories of hearing about Hooksey...

Please let him be OK!

Could go either way sante - personally I wouldn't be that surprised if our heads were elsewhere and we play pretty poorly in WA...

Hope we galvanise, and they are professional sportsmen, but I won't be crucifying the team if this incident puts their year into freefall.

Thoughts are with Polak, his family and the club. A terrible thing to happen to any person. Heres hoping for a good quality of life for the bloke and hopefully a comeback to footy in the not too distant future.

my $%#@ oath we do Oxx, prob a good thing we have a break this week as I imagine the playing group would be shattered right now. It's heartening to see his old teamates fly over in support. I hope we hear some good news soon

Extract from the Herald Sun today which does mention that Polak was not drunk. I just heard they've moved him from ICU to Intesive Care.

Also, as I was typing this post SEN has just reported his come out of coma and apparantly squeezed his brother's hand.

He was leaving home with teammate Cleve Hughes about 11pm to get into a taxi with another teammate, Jordan McMahon. It is believed they were on their way to meet teammates in St Kilda.
The three had attended a club function after its 100-year celebration game with Carlton at the MCG.
Polak was injured after colliding with Fevola in the first quarter but returned to play out the game.
"I feel a bit sick," said Fevola, a friend of Polak and Ms Oksuz.
Tiger Nathan Brown said Polak was not drunk after the function.
Polak's family, including mum Judy and brothers Chad, Dion and Troy, yesterday flew in from Perth.

Chad Polak said the news had stunned his family.

"It's pretty hard when you're on the other side of the country and don't really know what's going on," he said.

Chad said his family was coping but was waiting for Graham to wake.

"We're not going too bad, just hanging in there," he said.

"He seems to be getting better but we have to wait."

Club doctor Greg Hickey said the 2003 Rising Star nominee had been moving his limbs, but it was too early to say whether there was any long-term brain damage.

"These things can take some months to settle down and get a clearer picture," Dr Hickey said.

"Things are going to change very quickly the next few days.

"He's got bruising on his brain. Initially this was of great concern, but through the night he has improved.

"The risk is swelling of the brain can follow this."

Richmond football director Greg Miller said last night Polak had not taken painkillers or medication after his knock to the ribs that could have impaired his judgment.

"No, not at all," Miller said.

"It was one of those million to one chances, unfortunately."

Miller said the club was unsure if Polak had been drinking and it was not an issue.

Brown yesterday described the accident as shattering.

"He's a good mate of mine, he's a good mate of everyone at the club," he told Triple M.

"It's a freak thing. He wasn't drunk or anything, he was on his way out. It's shattering."

Fevola said he'd sent Polak and Ms Oksuz his best wishes.

Great News !
Lets just hope theres no permanent brain damage
This Kids hard as nails

I can't wait/hope for the day Polak returns to the field, backs back intro the pack and takes a big pack mark. Turns the the opposition and calmly retorts " I've been hit by bigger things than you lot, you guys aren't nothing."

Good luck in the recovery every Tiger is behind you 100%.

Boys,I'm really worried about him. !

so am I oxx:(

can't stop thinking about him, hope the next news we hear is some good news. As well as him and his family, i'm feeling for all the people involved with the RFC too who have close contact with Graham, this must be so shattering for them as well.

After reading the report this morning, the impact sounds much more serious than I originally thought via the initial reporting. Feeling sick to the stomach about this too:(

Hear Hear, Muttley... A very sobering incident.... makes footy pale into insignificance.... It's all about life and health... I'm sure everyone's thoughts and best wishes are with Polak and his family... I'm hoping that with a little help from above all will be ok and he'll be back with the yellow and black before you know it.

All the very best for a full recovery....
