Looks to me that Polak has really pulled his finger out in pre season training, analysing the NAB top 15 challenge...GP is the first Big Bloke to feature after Richo...placing him ahead of 20 or more smaller , more athletic types that this kinda routine would favour....Looks like he's off on the front foot..:thumbsu:

Nathan Foley - 2537
2. Brett Deledio - 2518
3. Cam Howat - 2494
4. Richard Tambling - 2369
5. Shane Tuck - 2269
6. Kane Johnson - 2210
7. Greg Tivendale - 2177
8. Kelvin Moore - 2167
9. Joel Bowden - 2146
10. Matthew Richardson - 2142
11. Patrick Bowden - 2127
12. Andrew Krakouer - 2124
13. Travis Casserly - 2122
14. Kayne Pettifer - 2103
15. Graham Polak - 2090

Yep he will be better this year than what he was at Freo, but I don't expect Polak to really show us what he is capable of until next year. It took Simmo a year to hit his best form.

It is good that he is training hard, but training means nothing if he can't bring that form to the field. I really hope he does.

it's a signal he's having a fair dinkum crack which seemed to be seriously questioned since being an early draft pick only a few years back....

So was/is petts. Gonna try to get to Wonthaggi to see how he goes. We can only hope his training is a reflection of his disciplines this year. Can't wait for the season to start.

Two ways to look at it i guess. Either your happy Polak is training hard and in the top half of players in your list. OR Your upset because someone who couldn't make the top 22 at Fremantle, who isn't a noted runner, is completing more training than the majority of your list.

Optimism versus pessimism. Richmond supporter versus Fremantle supporter.

I say good luck to the kid. But for someone who has been in the system so long, there's still so much to work on. On the flip side, you hardly gave up much to get him.

You seem to know as much about Richmond this year as I know about Fremantle, and I know jack s**t about Fremantle. From what I have seen and heard making the top 15 is a damn good effort.

Further to this I have read elsewhere that Polak recorded under 3 seconds (2.94) for the 20m sprint. That's damn quick for a big fella.

Thanks for the good wishes, fingers crossed. Some people would say we gave up far too much for him, but if you believe the spin we got exactly what we wanted in the draft so we actually gave up nothing for him. Sounds nice, warm fuzzy feelings all round, hopefully true. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, makes me feel better.

;)

Be aware of this line from TW's NAB 15 Challenge article:;)
"Most of the senior players will also miss our first practice match, which will be played at Wonthaggi next week while we are on our Community Camp in Phillip Island."

Would still be good to hear about the community camp and practice match. Looks like the one at Casey Fields on Feb 16 is the real intra-club match with all of the senior players though.

Kelvin Moore counts as a big bloke.
Still good news on Polak though.

Polak is a very talented footballer and if Richmond can keep his confidence at a high level he wont disapoint. However he does have a tendency to drop his head if things dont go his way.

I wish him luck and hope he finally fulfills his potential.
