It's got to be about the whole punching down thing. It's uncomfortable to watch.

It's about empathy and creativity. People who can't understand how other people think, rarely understand what makes someone laugh. Creatives most of the time require empathy in order to have a career. Right-wing jokes are generally devoid of the sort of sophistication that would make them funnier or less predictable.

Also, as Gough said, right-wingers - especially these days - don't seem very smart.

That Martian Magazine account is interesting. Some decent jokes mixed in with various alt-right themes like Jews at the heart of the multicultural "white genocide", climate change is fake, misogyny, killing socialists and so on.

I'm sure not to everyone's taste but an email entitled Settled Science landed in my Inbox. I had a chuckle.
It must make you wonder which email list you are already on decided to pass on your email address to a bunch of liars? Not very nice of them.

Sent from a friend who enjoyed juxtaposing the "Settled Science" argument between climate and genders. Given one has had minimal study into it compared to the other I could see the funny side.

LOL at quoting the arse clown that would refer to those members of the military tasked with moving his fat arse around as "Comrade." Really had a way with people did he.

When commenting on a post that suggests right-wingers might not be very smart, maybe don't say something that makes you look not very smart.

BTW, can you ask your mate what the second cartoon is, as it doesn't seem to have a punchline itself - something looks cut off at the top? But don't tell your mate that 'global cooling' has had far more of a run from right-wingers these days keen to pretend it was a big deal back then, than it ever did back then. S/he seems to be putting a lot of stock in that 'cooling' story.

You needing to ask what the 2nd cartoon means speaks more of your lack of intelligence than my disgust at a 1970s Australian political figure using the term "Comrade" when addressing members of the military.

How/why is it interesting?

How/why is it interesting?

Because the alt-right are increasingly well organised and their propaganda is better than the old timey conservatives propaganda. That cartoon is well drawn and the jokes make sense unlike the weirdo metaphor hammer Garrison ones or the comics that end up in most of the conservative papers. The Martian alt-right cartoonist has a sense of irony and appears to have been exposed to subversive culture and humour (unlike say, religious conservatives), I would say he's probably a university grad. And yet a number of his cartoons are about Jews bringing down white Western civilisation. There's a contradiction to deal with that we're not used to. These vanguard neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups aren't stocked with hicks.

You got all that from the cartoons? Well drawn does not make them funny, ironic or interesting.

Not a patch on Rowe or Pope!
