My worry is ponting stays on as skipper and bat at 3.
Then what if we lose in sri lanka and lose to india at home(both likely right now) and ponting form contnues to poor with the bat, we then have a situation where things are even bleaker than right now but we still won't have any viable test captaincy options outside of clarke.
Remember the end of the Indian test series at home is only just over 9 months away, not enough time for somebody from the younger generation to grab a spot in the team and present themselves as a legitimate captaincy option.
I do agree that it's all rather bleak, those pushing for clarke are doing so because they can't see a way out of this mess through ponting even though they don't like or trust clarke, while those supporting ponting even admit he would be gone already if clarke wasn't such a knob.
Dark days ahead for our team, it may get a heck of lot worse before it gets any better.
