I guess it's what you get used to but it seems quite logical to me.

Better than the aborted McIntyre Final 8 System, that's for sure. (which is what we had been doing for the preceding 'ten years' before implementing the system we have now.)

It is a variation of the system, and, imho, an improved variation. I don't understand, for instance, why the NFL (American Football) hasn't adopted it yet. It fits perfectly with its league setup, and it would change nothing, but adding an extra week of football:

Week 1
Divisional Round (division champs)
WildCard Round (top-4 non-champs)

Week 2 <like current WC round>
Elimination Round (WC winn @ Div los)

Week 3 <like current Divisional round>
Conference Semis (Elim winn @ Div win)

Week 4
Conference Championship Game

Betts technically fits into 3 SoO teams.

Born in SA.
Raised in WA and then back to SA.
Moved to Vic at 15 and represented Vic metro in the u/18s
David Bolton represented SA, Vic and NSW in SoO games due to changing eligibility criteria.

Most recent eligibility rule was residency between the ages of 10-17, hence the likes of Goodes (Vic) and Crawford (NSW/Allies) were never pulling on the red guerns despite being born here.

Betts is such a strange case, I had never heard a peep about him being a South Aussie (for footy purposes) until he moved to West Lakes.

Dunstall representing Victoria 4 times was a rort. At least Carey lived here for a fair while in his teens before the goalposts were shifted in 1993.

The AFL is becoming the same boys club the SANFL is. It's utter unprofessional tripe.

I mean. People like Gerard Healy get gigs. Who the **** likes Gerard Healy? Anyone? No.

In fact, the number of professional callers is close to zero. Stop ******* giving jobs to brainless ****silly people fresh out of the game (or 50 million years out of the game) and employ proper callers.

So immensely sick of this shithole competition and the associated boys club media, selection panels and whatever else.

Imagine being a woman working in that proverbial gloryhole.

Healy is f@#king clueless. Second only to Brad Johnson for being both boring and rubbish.

The exact moment he jumped the shark was around 2004-5ish.

On The Couch, a conversation about who the premier CHF in the competition was. Tredrea. Riewoldt. Pavlich.

Healy pipes up, "what about Jonathan Brown?". Sheehan has this 'uh, what' look on his face, "what makes you say that, Gerard?".

"He's won three premierships!"

It's criminal that guys like this are clogging up the airwaves. Kelli Underwood did a better job than 75% of them but got the arse because "wot wood a girl know about footie?!"

When I was having one of my knee operations I asked the orthopedic surgeon how many operations he had had on his knees and he answered "none". Farken amateur.

My wife is an RN and recommended a particular surgeon with whose patients she had the least problems.
I asked him did he do footballers at the highest level. He said that he used to but no longer. The reason being he was not in
control of their rehab. If anybody on here is looking at a knee operation I had zero problems and found out later that my surgeon
was considered one of the best in the state. PM me if your unsure about who to engage. I don't know if he does public patients.

My orthopod has a signed Ports Magpies' guernsey in his waiting room and wears a Ports' tie when consulting.

I looked up 'mediocrity'...

The Magpies have stuck with Nathan Buckley for another two seasons despite not being above 10th position for 50 rounds in succession, a streak that began in round 17, 2015, when the club dropped from ninth to 11th. It is the longest streak at such a low set of positions on the ladder in the club's history.

I also have a Port tie (an official one, given to me by someone at the club) but I only wear it to club related functions. I am hesitant to wear it when meeting with clients as I wouldn't want to put them off if they are supporters of other clubs. If I were meeting with someone wearing a crows tie I don't think I would be able to take them seriously or concentrate.

I get where you're coming from but I'm fairly certain that this surgeon couldn't care less if he rustled the jimmies of a Crows' customer by wearing his Ports tie. If they didn't cancel their appointment when they walk in and see the framed Ports guernsey they aren't going to be fazed by a tie.

Not that I want it back but if SoO does ever happen again it should be where you are born period.

In which case a young Graham Cornes would be forced to pull on the Big V, etc.

You can see what they were going for with the 10-17 residency rule, it's when you form your identity as opposed to a random birthplace that may have zero bearing on where you actually learned your footy/grew up, etc.
