The champion hit is on youtube. He’d get 8 for it now
Would the chairman of the tribunal be pleading with the panel to reduce it by 25% like in the Barry Hall case for his hit on Staker, because he pleaded guilty and had a clean record for many years despite the fact less than 3 years earlier he punched Macguire in the guts in the 2005 prelim final and got off a technicality? Barry got 790 pts penalty so out for 7 games.

He got 7 for it then.

1990 FOUNDATION CUP FINAL
Better known as the game in which Scott Salisbury’s elbow met Richard Champion’s face.
It was the final game of the pre-season competition, under lights, when Salisbury’s hit led to an all-in-brawl and a seven-week suspension for the Glenelg dual premiership player.
At the time, Salisbury tried the “concussion defence”, claiming he was unable to remember the incident, but in later years conceded the hit was designed to let Champion know he couldn’t rough up young Tiger, Rod Jameson, without some backlash.
“I’m at the other end of the ground thinking, ‘I’ve got to get down there somehow’,” Salisbury said. “In the end, the ball came near us both. He was watching the ball and I was thinking, ‘I’ve got you’. I could have still done it and had my eyes on the ball. That was the worst part.’’
Salisbury’s seven weeks was, in 1990, the harshest penalty handed down at an SANFL tribunal since David Granger copped nine for his hit on Graham Cornes in the ‘82 preliminary final.

The incident was at 2.49. Symonds kicked to a contest and Salisbury deliberately took out Champion behind the pack. Cunningham said he saw who it was but would not say who, although it was obvious.

I'd rather that game never get brought up, in any circumstance, ever again.

This circus is gunna last 9 months...
Nah it's never ending.

In 9 months we just move on to the next Crow who is leaving.

I hope it's a South Aussie for the lolz.

And if they cant afford to keep him because they topped up Gibbs' contract above the contract he already had from Carlton, even though it was Gibbs who wanted to come home double lolz.

Loved Timmy G's version at his stand up gig some eeeks ago at the Clubrooms.

GF about to start.
Timmy sees Salisbury lining up on a young Wangas.
Bit of howdy you do ensues.
Timmy thinks "shit" this could be trouble.
Goes to one senior Port player (Kutchie???).
Says "SS is on Gav".
Said player yells out to SS "Salisbury!!! You f***ing touch him and I'm gonna ****ing kill you".
Timmy goes to David Hynes who is pushing and shoving his own opponent.
"Hey Hynesy. Salisbury is lining up on Gav".
Hynes - frothing at mouth, drool and spittle flying everywhere -says "Salisbury. You ****ing touch him and i'm gonna rip your ****ing head off".
SS doesn't try anything.
Gav jauntilly trots around and kicks a couple of goals.
Port wins.

Classic :greenalien:

Why can’t we just all agree Football is a man’s game and move on? Women have Netball, which is a fantastic sport in its own right. Be happy with that.

This is the exact response the fringe loonies want to justify this sort of social justice crusade.

If women are really insulted by this type of language (which they aren't) then here's a better idea - use 'ruckman', 'holding the man', etc, in men's sport and use 'ruckwoman', 'holding the woman', etc, in women's sport.

Women can absolutely 'have' football as well, just as men can play netball. But the idea that saying ruckman is a terrible thing is utterly ridiculous, and to be honest these kinds of overly 'PC' arguments only serve to turn people off legitimate ones on gender equality.

The idea of changing terms that have been around for over a century because there is an AFLW now (which probably won’t be around in a decades time) is pretty silly
