"... Irene was put up for sale and it was grabbed in 2000 at a nominal price by aviation enthusiast and pilot Jeff Morgan who took her to his South Australian Mallee farm where he spent many hours eliminating corrosion and then sourcing parts to bring the engines back to life ...."

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has told media this morning that Jack Gunston and Daniel Rich have stood themselves down from AFL selection. Both went to him on Monday and said their form didn’t warrant to be picked. Will both be out indefinitely.

Saving face by "calling for yourself to be dropped" could be a new thing to sweep the AFL.

Jonas is playing for the Maggies because he's dropped himself, so no need to get him back in

i feel like there's an element of players deliberately going limp looking for the "dangerous tackle" free kick.

these are 90kg extremely fit men being thrown around like ragdolls. it's like there's zero resistance or effort to protect themselves.

if just grabbing someone's waist and throwing them into the ground was a thing, then that's what everyone would do in the ufc, but if there's a bit of resistance it's not that easy.

mcluggage is actually sitting on sicily's chest and somehow he's able to generate enough torque to slam his head into the ground.

the tackler does still have a duty of care and it's obvious when someone is completely helpless and they just get pulverised but this is not it imo.

we know players play for frees all the time, and i think if you go limp at the wrong moment you can end up with a concussion.
Yep, happens all the time. I think it will be a new form of ducking for head-high contact -> if being tackled, try and land with your head hitting the ground. Don't brace even with an arm free. And if you don't get tackled to ground, its easier to hit a teammate with a handball.

I think I saw something similar happen in the King Bday game, don't remember the time of game but Collingwoods Murphy felt himself being tackled and it felt like he tried to win a dangerous tackle free. Umpire didn't pay it but in general it will be too difficult for the umps to determine whether the tackle is inherently dangerous or whether the player being tackled contributes and makes the tackle dangerous. The rule of arms pinned was pretty clear cut and I thought it was a good method but now seems the AFL have gone away from it and any time the head hits the ground will be a free kick/suspension, which is pretty insane.

Which brings me back to the head-high frees from shrugging the shoulders. Players were encouraged to 'win' free kicks by manipulating tackles to get hit in the head -> same sort of perverse incentive exists and will be another aspect of games I'll get frustrated with :tearsofjoy:

Making yourself unavailable for selection before being dropped is the new self reporting with mental health issues before your third strike.

Not really laugh worthy, Chayce has been good this year.

Fogarty came good last year and now Chayce Jones is coming good. Thankfully Ned McHenry is still a massive spud, but if he ever comes good I might have to give away football entirely.

Chayce Jones isn't Rozee or Butters level but he also isn't a spud
