I've wandered up to the Hill during Port games a few times. On night games the level of drunken abuse shouted at players (including our own) by Port fans is often pretty bad - including racist and homophobic comments.

Behaviour that wouldn't be tolerated in other parts of the ground seems to be totally accepted there.

The memory and smell of 'beer' tipped on our section the MCG from the tier above in our 2003 Prelim final loss to Collingwood is still 'fresh' in my senses.

The Crows got the result on the weekend but to concede 70+ inside 50s and only give up 8 goals… outside of Hinkley-ball that is not normal.

Play it again at the MCG in finals and that scoreline is much different.

The Pies can still do it, but to get there is now difficult given they’ll likely finish 5th and face Hawks who have smashed them in recent times.

Really hope Pies can finish 4th because I can’t see them losing again to the Crows. At least not in that fashion.

Also, Brisbane are rising. They’re a team that come primed for September. Cameron has turned a corner. They only lost to the Crows by a goal at Adelaide oval when they had their chances. Hipwood is a big out though given no more Joe.

Whilst the Pies, Geelong and Hawks would be VFL houses preferred premiers, Adelaide getting one, would be acceptable to them, drawing a line under their shit era, with them hoping it'd mean bumper crowds and TV viewers. Which would bump their KPI's and bonuses. This is all set for Rankine to get 'harsh words', but only miss 2 or 3 games, back for the Prelim or GF if they make it. As always you have to work back from the VFL's desired outcome and then how it gets justified, not some sort of impartial sentence that doesn't care if the offender was a star, rookie, played for a big Vic side, Port, first offense or repeat offender, etc.

Wearing moleskins and RM Craftsmans doesn't preclude idiocy. In fact I'd say being a corporate guest gives some a sense of f-u entitlement. And some of the game day hosts just don't see it as their role to play bouncer.

Have corporate facilities behind us at Adelaide Oval. You just know you're going to get an earful of elite level w***ery when certain teams come to play.

And it’s not just one player, Rachelle, Michaelany, now Rankine. This means plebs like jones and Murphy have to play.

12 years at 2.5 a year! Wow - lucky we missed that I reckon. That’s a huge commitment if true. Clearly port was not an attractive option for him if we had to push that hard.
