St Kilda seem like they are trying to compete with Essendon for injury mismanagement.

There main problem is not drafting enough strong mids.
Forward and back they are pretty well set but the midfield is as good as a bottom half of the table team.
You could get away with that in the old days but now it’s such a midfielders game if you’re not up to scratch it’s going to show up when it counts.

What surprises me is as a club they have never really addressed it.
If they would have they could have easily won a couple of extra flags by now.

The problem is if they spent their resources on mids they may not have the backs and forwards they have.

True, but you would think they would have done better considering they had plenty of good picks for sometime and basically ignored midfielders.

On the one hand Nicks did finally get them in to a top 4 spot, and if his star player could have literally just not been homophobic for 5 minutes who knows if they could have won a final or two also.

On the other hand why on earth would you not just let him coach the season out and make a decision at the end of the year.

I dont think Rankine's inclusion would have been enough for them to win those finals.
Ultimately it was Port beating the SUNS in the last round that undid their finals campaign.

I didn't understand all of the angst on this board when Tex (cease and desist notice pending) chose Essendon over Port. No where near the talent of his father and people seem to be seduced by the name.

The same people probably want Mead to be delisted. I certainly do.
