Hey guys

We want to cobble together a quick match preview for the Gameday, Matchday and Preview boards, as well as to start our game thread.

If a few people would like to give us a paragraph or 2 (or more if you like) today on who you think will win and why, I will put it all together and post it in the appropraite spots. Just post it in this thread.

Cheers in advance guys

West Coast are still looking to break their losing streak on the road and this exists because the younger kids usually drop off away from home.

Port have been pretty average this year and the difference between their good and poor games is massive, a lack of intensity is often the reason for this.

The Eagles are not without a chance to win this game but need to see some maturity from the 1st and 2nd year players like Masten, Ebert, Cockie, Brown, Mcginnity etc. The task of winning on the road becomes increasingly difficult when there are passengers and contributions from all 22 players is a must.

2009 has been one of those seasons where you can't take anything for granted.

The reigning premiers will be very lucky to scrape into the finals, let alone challenge for it.
St. Kilda have finally justified being a preseason favourite by bursting out of the pack and going fourteen straight, all the while Michael Gardiner has come from nowhere to be one of the form ruckmen of the comp.

Port have been inconsistent all year. One week they looked the goods, the next they go and get themselves belted. West Coast, on the other hand, have been consistent.. consistently terrible, especially on the road.
We've started to put together a few respectable performances, (Geelong and St Kilda at home and Sydney away spring to mind) and Port lost to Melbourne last week, so both teams feel they should this one.

We've never been any good against Port at Football Park, and we haven't been any good away fullstop for the last season and a half, but this week we're a chance to break that duck.

Our young guys need to stand up and be counted, a lot like they did when we played Port at home. This time we'll be without Cox and Kerr, our two best players.

Seaby has a monster task of stopping the man-mountain tag team of Lade and Brogan. I'd expect Naitanui to make a last minute call-up also.

It won't be an easy task to beat Port this week, but stranger things have happened.

Poor showing hurts my feelings. A loss isn't too bad if we play well ie our Sydney game. I get disappointed if we lose because we are playing terrible though

Interesting.

Bit of radio talk here in SA mentioning that tank word, and WC Eags.

What's your reckoning on that? Would hate a poor showing against the ferals.
Hoping Port win is not the same as wanting the Eagles to tank;)

I'm not sure why anyone (referring to the radio talk here rather than yourself) thinks any footy team will play below their best on purpose. Cox and Kerr being put in the rack is up for debate but I don't no where idiots get off on thinking a team will lose on purpose.

Yeah, I share your sentiments.

If we lost but play our hearts out, I can live with that.
If we play like shit and lose, I find it a little harder.

Cox and Kerr out is prudent management of players. And I have to agree with you that players go at it regardless, but I'm not sure if some coaches make a few less rotations or have other tactical 'oversights' that might end up costing a game or two.

Being a Crows supporter, I have never seen a slack Eagles side (for reasons too obvious:mad:)and I have always wondered why the same side often didn't show up against the ferals. Good luck Sunday and go you Eagles. (as you can see, my loathing of port power is no secret):D

Port will win and probably win comfortably.

They have only lost once at home this season IIRC (to StKilda) so their home form has been alright.

I really hope we have a crack but I can see the game being blown apart early and then the game dragging out to a very predictable Port victory - probably by 6-7 goals.

I have a WCE smashing in one hand 64 points and an average loss in the other hand 23 points.

Port have to win if they want to be considered for finals as Hawks won today. Cox out Seaby in ( would like to see how he goes) Nick-Nat hopefully does more than just get hitouts.

Kennedy needs a big game 4 goals, as does Hansen 3 goals, and Lecras 3 goals. Choko will let port know its a finals or bust game and they will get up. Final prediction Port adelaide by 39 points, hopefully it's closer
