My money is on Sydney to beat the power.

You mean no one will get as close to Geelong with some of their best players out, at your own home ground after a bit of soul searching and dire need for revenge that has built up over the pre season?

Nope. No one will.

No they have not....There were 9 Premiership players that played tonight....how many other clubs have ten Premiership layers in their list (Wilson out injured). Not to mention Salopek Pettigrew Chaplain Ebert and Daniel Motlop, amongst others were on the list in 2004.

Ports rebuild is a myth. A great marketing campaign put out in 2006 to stop membership and crowd numbers dropping. Remember it takes a crowd of 25000 to break even at Footy Park. Port average just over 27,000.

Motlop didnt come to us until 2006!!
and ther are 40 players on a list, so the 9 premiership players plus Salopek, Chappy, Pettigrew, White and Ebert from 2004 make 14 players from 2004. thats a turnover of 26 players.
Baiscally all but about 7-8 of our players are 25 years old or younger.

Ok wrong about Motlop

But 80% of your starting lineup were on the list

Hawthorn Rebuilt, Geelong Rebuilt. Port kept a window open, Like Adelaide.

Last night we had 9 players playing who were not even on our list in 2004, and another 4 who were kids in 2004. Dont know where 80% comes from.

They had there entire midfield out that day, ours is probably the second best in the AFL and we took advantage of that.

Ling and Bartel were the only ones missing that game. THey still had Kelly, Chapman, Ablett, Enright, Ottens.

As for having the second best midfield, just cos you came second last year, doesnt mean you have the second best midfield.

Would have been a better game, but the same team would still be Premiers.

To be honest I wasn't concerned about who was premiers, just the game quality, as a Collingwood supporter my caring of who won was removed the week before I just wanted a good game.

Tool - just let this thread die for ****s sake. Bay13 is about quality trolling not this newbie shit.

If you didn't have 5 of the first 15 replies it probrably would have died. But thanks for the input :D

Michael Pettigrew
Dean Brogan
Brendan Lade
Steven Salopek
Brett Ebert
Jacob Surjan
Domenic Cassisi

In just four seasons remember. Four. Forget a rebuild, that's a complete list overhaul - to say otherwise is either stupidity or ignorance. No offence intended, it just is.

haha, so many replies in this rubbish thread....is bay 13!!! aka shit stirring board!!

for what is worth, if the game kept going a bit more, we probably would have lost. power's a good unit always hard to play at AAMI.

Damn you DT you beat me to it!

Just to reinforce the point though, for FlyingCrow, in last night's team players who were not on our list let alone within a bulls roar of playing in the 2004 side were:-

Daniel Motlop
Travis Boak
Paul Stewart
Alipate Carlile
Matt Thomas
Justin Westhoff
Tom Logan
David Rodan
Danyle Pearce

Then consider that guys like Surjan, Pettigrew and Brett Ebert were only just on our list and not within cooee if getting a game and add to that Troy Chaplin our first choice CHB who was out injured last night was also a raw recruit in 2004.

yup and if the Grand Final went for another 37 hours they might have had a shot too. But it doesn't so that's irrelevant. We were on top all night.

Port got back into the game for 3 reasons, Geelongs 1st half goal kicking, Geelong got cocky and over used the ball, just like Port did in the first half and Geelong ran out of legs. Port are talking like they played a good game, they didnt. If this game was played in the latter half of the year Geelong would have run away with it for another big win.

Grand Final day 1998 ring any bells?

The rest of your post is pure speculation.

Move along.

:D

Port Power are mentally fragile after setting the Grand Final losing record. It's something that they will never live down. Very funny to watch Choke-o slamming his fist down in the coaches box.

hissy fit

it was rag time

Yeh 1998 does ring a bell, I was there and we won.

So do you not agree:

a) Port overused the ball in the first half
b) Geelong overused the ball in the second half
c) Geelong looked stuffed in the last quarter?

I was there were you?

17 Left.
Similar list turnover.

Over the same time period our owest Finishing position 12th (2004) Ports lowest 12th in 2006 again similar.
Most clubs would of turned over 50% of the list in four seasons. Ports "rebuild" is nothing special.

I'll agree with ya, Elite Crow. We stuffed around in the second half, and yeah we looked fairly well knackered in the last quarter. Another two minutes and I'd say Port would have won.
